The standard guitar controllers you get with guitar hero are fine but maybe just a little boring. When you watch the big stars of rock they all seem to have individual guitars with designs and styles which become part of their unique image. They may have a whole range of different guitars to suit what they are playing.

So if you want to get a real rock star image how do you do this without buying the more expensive guitar controllers? Easy - you get Guitar Hero Skins!

Guitar Hero Skins are a sort of vinyl cover which goes over your guitar controller. It helps to protect it but also gives it a different look. There are literally hundreds of different skins to chose from in every style and colour imaginable. So you can have any number of different images without having to spend a fortune.

It is possible apparently to have ones made to your own design but I would imagine that this would be would expensive, especially if you want a few of them.

Unless you have been asleep or perhaps in a deep jungle area somewhere as yet uncharted you will be aware of the huge sucess of Guitar Hero.

The amazing thing is how it seems to have sparked a huge increase of interest in rock and heavy metal music and also music from the seventies and eighties.I hear kids taking about the songs they are currently trying to master on Guitar Hero and I think 'Hang on - that was out when I was a teenager'. (And just in case you can't tell from my piccy that s avery long time ago). I find it completely bemusing because I am certain that if Guitar Hero had never existed and I had played some of those songs they would have been roundly dismissed and mocked as 'old fogies rubbish' prompting remarks such as 'God did you really listen to that?'

Watching my ten year old daughter jamming away to Lynrd Skynrd, dressed in a leotard and with her hair in a bun because she has just come back from her ballet class, is a slighly odd image which I have have gradually gotten used to.

Of course its all great fun and allows kids who don't play guitar to still enter that fantasy world where all kids are at their happiest. Anyone can be a rock star. Maybe some of them will want to learn a real instrument as a result. My daughter plays cello but you can hardly play heavy rock on that!

The Guitar Hero World Tour Game has been a great addition to the range because the whole family can have a go - well the ones with a high embarrassment threshold anyway. This thing is harder than it looks when you first try it. I looked like a complete idiot the first go I had and the guitar controller was taken off me - rather rapidly I thought.
