Guitar Success

I bet that you've thought about playing the guitar before, but probably figured that it was too hard to get started. As a long time guitar instructor, let me be the first one to tell you that its not as hard as you might think....

A quick word about myself

I'll keep it brief ;)

I started playing the guitar when I was 15, and when it came to the instrument - I really didn't have any confidence. In fact, my belief in my own ability to play the instrument was at such a low, that I didn't even bother taking lessons.

Instead I picked up a few books here and their, scoured the furthest reaches of the internet, and little by little was able to teach myself how to play. Oh sure, I didn't reach the level that I had in mind right away, but I found that I was able to teach myself just enough to be able to jam with other guitar players, and it only took me a few months.

Here's the thing....

I kind of lied, because I did start out taking ONE guitar lesson. The instructor was terrible. He tried teaching me a song that I had already taught myself, charged me $25 for a half hour lesson, and cut my lesson short 15 minutes. Yes, that's right - he charged me $25 for a 15 minute lesson, AND he yawned the entire time ;)

I went looking for a new guitar teacher right after that, but I wasn't about to repeat my last mistake, so I new that this instructor would have to be someone awesome. I found just the right person, but unfortunately that awesome guitar teacher charged $50 for a one hour long guitar lesson. At 15 I really didn't have that kind of dough, as you can imagine, so what was the next best thing? that's right, teach myself to play the guitar.

The reason I'm saying all of this...

Look. A lot of people take guitar lessons from the git-go, and a lot of people take it upon themselves to pick it up on their own. Regardless of which route you may wish to take, what if I told you that you could actually do both?

Let me paint you a little picture. I'm 15. Its my birthday party. I had always wanted to play the guitar since I was about 3. Everyone at my party can play the guitar, and I longed to do so, oh so badly! Someone does indeed bring a guitar. We're sitting in a circle, and the guitar is being passed along, as each person takes his turn playing a song. Then the guitar comes to me. I have to pass it along. I don't know where to begin. I'm humiliated.

For a guitar player who has reached my skill level, that is like a nightmare that could very easily reoccur. Whatever is holding you back - don't let it stop you!

The power of the internet

Remember when I told you that there was a way that you could take lessons AND teach yourself to play the guitar at the same time? I wasn't joking when I said that.

Today is the age of technology. Information can be provided at the speed of thought, and retained just as easily. The ability to teach yourself to play guitar by way of the internet is a reality now. As a long time guitar teacher and musician, its a hobby of mine to see what's going on in the online guitar world, and primarily what's happening in the online guitar instructional world.

I see a lot of guitar videos, books, courses, lessons - you name it, but most of them lack in 4 key areas.

1. Quality
2. Clarity
3. Consistency
4. Usefulness

Most online guitar courses lack in the ability to be able to give you something that is of high caliber. Most of the instructors also lack the ability to be able to explain things clearly and efficiently. The lessons don't tie into each other well, and because of this, what you end up learning can be hard to apply.

Possibly the worst part of all is the fact that they can cost an arm and a leg, and if you were paying $25 per hour for these kinds of lessons in the real world, it would cost you a staggering $1300 a year.

Guitar Success - your answer to rock stardom!

Now you can teach yourself guitar, at the close instruction of a guitar master. Guitar Success is a fully loaded, and sophisticated guitar instructional course that will not only take you from beginner to advanced, but will only cost you the price of one guitar lesson.

As a long time guitar teacher, I personally tried the Guitar Success course myself and was quite amazed. Before I go any further, there are two things that you should know about me.

1. I tend to be a skeptical person.
2. I have had bad experiences with guitar instructional products in the past.

So, simply put - I tried Guitar Success with a sort of half-hearted mindset. Now, I know what you are thinking - "if you are a guitar teacher, then you should be the last person who would need something like Guitar Success". Well, you are correct in your assumption, however at my rate of playing, I've now stepped into a state of observance. In other words, I get bored with my own playing and am always trying to improve myself, and my guitar playing.

I seriously doubted that I would learn anything new, but I was wrong.

GS comes fully loaded with lessons for beginners, intermediate players, and advanced guitarists, and I was astonished to find out that there were things in the beginner's section that I had never learned before. Nothing theoretical that was new to me, but rather new ideas and concepts.

The same is true across all the progressing videos, books, and audio files. I really dig Guitar Success, because I know that it will help anyone who is just starting out, move up the ladder, and help their playing grow.

As I had said before, its not just for beginning guitar players, and its always nice to have a laid out plan of action to follow. A plan of action is really key for anything, and certainly guitar playing. Let me explain.

1. Guitar lessons are great, but with a guitar instructor you are taught exactly what to do and what not to do, right from the beginning. There is no room for authentic personal growth. There is no room to learn from your own mistakes and develop your own style of guitar playing.

2. Being self taught is nice too, but there is no direction at times, and sometimes you just need a little guidance or advice. Plus, and I know that the word "discipline" sounds harsh, but as a self taught player it can be hard to keep pushing yourself without an ever expanding foundation that you can see and have.

This is where the power of the internet comes into play. Information is quick, cheap, and attainable. You can learn at your own pace, and you can research new guitar ideas at the speed of sound. However, if I could do it all over again, I would invest my time and money into a guitar course like Guitar Success, and then study things outside of it.

The ideal formula:

1. 50% - a program to follow along with.
2. 50% - your own research and findings.

This little formula has worked time and time again, to ensure that guitar players stick to a path, but also see the trees all around them ;)
