The Gunstringer requires the Kinect sensors. The player uses his actual hand and arm motions to manipulate the virtual strings of the onscreen marionette. The aim of the game is to help the skeleton cowboy on his mission to seek revenge against his former comrades that betrayed him. The game action includes platform challenges, right hand control of the puppet and third-person shooting with the left hand, as well as shoot outs with both hands during on-rail sequences. The game also includes local two player support in which the second player can drop in and drop out at any time.

The game is budget priced for the simple reason that it is relatively short. On a first run, I beat the game in around 4 hours. Nevertheless, the extra content packed into this game will provide countless of hours of further fun. The adult themes in the game also require the user to make sure that the game is not played in front of children. Certain controls of the game require a bit of getting used to since they require a bit of co-ordination, such as dodging with the left hand while aiming to shoot with the right. That said, the controls are not overly complex. A downside of this game is that Kinect sometimes delays in recognising certain specific movements when the game requires a subtle movement.
