Are You a Gymnastics Mom?
Gymnastics is a popular sport. Both girls and boys do gymnastics. My daughter has been doing gymnastics for about three and a half years, while my son has been in gymnastics for about two years.
Gymnastics takes dedication, time, and money. That's even before you get to the stage where you can compete. While it does take time to be a soccer mom, being a gymnastics mom often takes a lot more time and money; however, when your child starts learning to flip and make it look easy, it's all worth it.

Gymnastics Costs Money
One of the things that gymnastics moms know about is the cost. This iPay design by ididitdesigns illustrates the fact. My daughter's entire season of soccer cost less than one month of gymnastics. She was in youth soccer, with all volunteer coaches and referees, but there really isn't the equivalent for gymnastics. Gymnastics equipment costs a lot of money, and in order to get a competent coach, you pretty much have to pay them. Plus, I'm sure that gymnastics insurance is pretty high. Hence, the financial commitment.
I know a lot of people who say that they can't afford to put their kids into gymnastics. For a few people, that is true. For most, it's just not the choice that they want to make. Pretty much all of the money that I earn through my online efforts goes to the gym. I suppose that I could quit writing, but then I would have to take the kids out of gymnastics. That's okay, because I like writing. It also gives me something to do while I'm at the gym.

Gymnastics Takes Time
If your kids really want to be good at gymnastics, they're going to have to spend a lot of time at practice. Which means that as a mom, you will spend a lot of time at gymnastics too, as this shirt by MKBennetts says. My daughter isn't competing yet, but she spends four to six hours at the gym every week (she has four hours of class, then we usually come in on another day for open gym so she can get additional practice in). My son spends between 1 and 3 hours a week at the gym. Moms with kids that compete have kids that spend a lot more time at the gym (and more money).
Fortunately, we don't live very far from our current gym, so when it's only my daughter going, I can drop her off and come back home. When it's my son's day to go to gymnastics, I stay and watch them. Parents with more than one kid often put the younger ones in gymnastics so that the other kids have something to do when their sibling is out on the floor. I'm lucky enough to be at a large enough gym so that there are several classes going on at the same time, and it's not too difficult to find a time where both siblings can be at the gym at the same time.

My Girl Doing Back Handsprings
Of course, every gymnastics mom has to show off videos of their kids when they learn something new!

Gymnastics is Inspiring
Being a gymnastics mom can be inspiring. Watching my daughter do gymnastics has inspired me to do more athletics myself. Why should she have all the fun and all the benefits of exercise?
I started going to a gym myself last fall. Much of the inspiration for me comes from being around athletes and athletics all the time. While I can't do a back handspring or even a cartwheel, I'm a lot stronger today than last year, and probably more flexible, partly due to the inspiration from being around gymnastics.
