stepping thru one of many methods to turn a cheap piece of junky WallyWorld garbage into something cool

there are many techniques used by many artists, I'm just learning the ropes and thought to spread the knowledge a little.

acrylic paints are inexpensive and quite handy for many projects, the dihydrogen monoxide blasters being just the tip of the iceberg.

I have accumulated several dozen cheap water pistols in the past several months, and have them hanging in the shop waiting for just the right combination of weather, desire and time to begin another round of dihydrogen monoxide blaster conversions.

Step One - Find some cheap plastic guns that inspire steampunk feelings

dart guns and ping pong ball blasters are quite fun too

cover the whole gun in flat black,
dry brushed with acrylic paints

My first try at using RubNBuff, I like it, tho there is a learning curve to climb over.
I think that using the acryilc paint both drybrush and as a wash are better at making corrosion, but the RubNBuff excells at being metal. This is good, I like it :)

keeps the dragons away, it does for a fact

gotta love the lines of this design
quality control is somewhat lax on cheap toys
logo partially gone
needle files, sandpaper, rasp, sander, steel wool are all handy for this stage of modification
painted with flat black to help show all the defects yet to be repaired, the knife switch assembly is for the RustyDragon control panel
body filler to repair minor defects
wet sanding and almost ready for another coat of flat black
full coverage with flat black and this blaster is ready to start customizing.
