The english braid is the most common and easist braid to make; everyone knows this one. Think little school girl easy. The "Headband" Braids
There are two main types of headband braids. The Swiss braid and the crown braid. They look very similar but are different. The Swiss braid is made by crossing two braids around the bottom of your neck and pinned to make a "headband". On the otherhand a crown braid is made by French/Dutch braiding around your head.
Swiss Braid
How To
The Swiss Braid is the easier of the two headband braids because it only requires that you know how to do the English braid.

The french braid in another popular style, and will need some practice at first. At the top of your head, at the hairline at your forehead make three pieces of hair, one at the middle of your head and one on each of its adjacent sides. Make a braid pattern once, and to each side add hair and repeat the braid pattern. Continue the patter of pulling in hair and braiding it until there is no more hair to pull in.
At this point continue the braid as an english braid down the rest of your hair.

Lace Braid
How To
You should learn the french/dutch braid before you move onto this; the lace braid can be a variation of either of those. For the lace braid you star out as you would for a french/dutch braid but instead you only add hair from one side, usually the side adjacent to your hairline. Some say this is somewhat easier than the french/dutch braid so if you're having trouble with the french/dutch, try this.
In this video the girl finishes her braid with an english braid, but you can continue as long as you want with the lace braid.
