Curd Mask to give your hair volume and shine

Curd or Yogurt application on hair has been used from a long time. Curd for hair is extremely moisturizing and nourishing. Curd is great to give hair a nice sheen. Curd makes hair lustrous. This mask also helps to prevent premature greying of the hair. Curry leaves are the main ingredient which helps to prevent premature greying of the hair in this recipe.

Curd mask recipe for hair

3 tbsp of Curd (take more if your hair is longer)

2 tsp of Fenugreek (methi)Powder

2 tsp of Indian Gooseberry (Amla) Powder.

15-20 Curry leaves paste 

Mix all the dry ingredients first, then add the curd and curry leaves and mix it thoroughly to avoid lumps. Apply this mask to the hair for 20 minutes.

Wash your hair with Shikakai powder (easily available in Indian Stores). Shikakai powder is usually mixed with rice starch (Boil the rice in plenty of water and drain the water) This drained rice starch is then mixed with shikakai and used as shampoo. If you don't have this drained rice starch then you can use water.

In Winter season it becomes a bit hard to maintain our hair as the hair fall is more prominent during this period. Usually about 50-100 strands of hair fall during a day is the norm but during winter it tends to escalate. Here are few pointers to keep in mind to prevent excess hair fall and maintain a glossy mane.

Avoid Blow dryer : Avoid blow drying your hair and let it naturally dry or if you must use it sparingly.

Cold Water : Rinse your hair with bearable cold water in the last for extra shine in the hair.

Have Protein : Consume protein rich diet to combat hair fall.

Banana Hair mask Recipe
2 Ripe Banana
1 tbsp of yogurt
½ tbsp Olive oil
½ tbsp Castor oil
½ tbsp Coconut oil
Mix the above ingredients and gently massage it in your scalp. Apply from the root to the tip of the hair. Cover with hot towel, leave for half an hour. Rinse with lukewarm water. Use a mild shampoo or best use Shikakai with rice starch to wash your hair.

Goodness of this hair mask :Banana hydrates the hair and is great for thin and brittle hair. Yogurt adds shine to your hair. Olive oil nourishes the hair. Castor oil promotes hair growth. Coconut oil is a conditioning agent.

Home Made Protien Mask for Healthy-Shiny Hair


Take one or two eggs depending upon the length of your hair.
Beat the eggs
Add 1 tbsp of Yogurt
Mix well.
Now apply this mixture to your hair and leave it for 1/2 hour.
Wash your hair with lukewarm to cool water, to avoid the egg smell in your hair.
Wash thoroughly.
Now shampoo and condition your hair.
Do your last rinse to the hair with cold water.

Dandruff can happen at any age but is most commonly found in people between the ages of 12 and 80. Dandruff is usually seasonal. It is most severe during the winter and mildest during the summer. Surprisingly, dandruff is a bit of an enigma.



Dandruff scales usually occur as small, round, white-to-gray patches on top of the head. Scaling can occur anywhere on the scalp, in the hair, on the eyebrows, the beard and can spread to the neck and shoulders. Seborrhea can present as a variety of conditions such as dandruff, thick scales on the scalp, redness on the face or in the armpits, or raw, red patches below the breasts. They are noticeable when brushing the hair and can gather on the shoulders. The condition usually responds very well to treatment, but will commonly reoccur if treatment is stopped.

People with oily hair tend to have dandruff more often. In most cases, dandruff can be self-diagnosed without the aid of a physician. Dandruff usually does not require medical treatment. However, if, in addition to dandruff, a person also has greasy scaling on the face, eyebrows and eyelashes and thick, red patches on the body, he or she may have the more severe form of seborrheic dermatitis.



Dandruff is a chronic condition that can almost always be controlled, but dandruff treatment may take a little patience and persistence. In general, mild scaling can often be helped by daily cleansing with a gentle shampoo to reduce oiliness and cell buildup. In severe cases dermatologists will prescribe a special ointment or lotion to treat the problem.

It is generally agreed that drugstore products which contain zinc pyritheone or selenium sulfide are the most effective in ridding the scalp of dandruff flakes. In reality, there's nothing unusual about dandruff, and it definitely doesn't mean you're going bald. But here's how to remedy this nuisance if you're itching for some answers.



Prevention of Dandruff
Washing your hair at least three times a week.
Avoiding the use of chemicals on the scalp, such as those used in hair colouring.
Making sure that you have enough vitamins such as zinc, beta-carotene, B6, B12 and selenium in your diet.
Regular daily brushing.
Sunlight may be good for dandruff. But because exposure to ultraviolet light damages your skin and increases your risk of skin cancer, don't sunbathe.


Home Remedies for Dandruff
The use of fenugreek seeds is one of the most important remedies in the treatment of dandruff.
A valuable prescription for removal of dandruff is the use of green gram powder. The hair should be washed twice a week with two tablespoons of this powder mixed with half a cup of curd.
Create a mixture of curd, lime juice, cider, vinegar, and amla juice and apply to hair.
Apply warmed coconut oil with the juice of two lemons, and leave in hair for two hours before shampooing out.
Exposure of the head to the rays of the sun is also useful measure in the treatment of dandruff.
Rinse the hair after soaking some neem leaves in water and then filtering.
Beat two eggs and add two tablespoons of water to it. Wet the hair and apply the egg mixture over the hair. Now massage your scalp and let the mixture on for ten minutes to fifteen minutes. Then rinse the hair with lukewarm water. This will keep both dandruff and hair fall problem away from you.

So always ask you GP before going on any sort of diet. A healthy and balanced diet provides all the essential vitamins and minerals for healthy hair growth and natural hair loss prevention. We should have food rich in high in vitamin A, B, C, E and K.

There are few food which do more for are hair specially magnesium, selenium, sulfur, silica and zinc are important minerals required for healthy hair. The hair is comprised mostly of protein. Have food rich in protein like soy and egg. To encourage hair growth, adhere to a diet rich in protein. Vitamin E is important for healthy hair growth.

Magnesium : Foods rich in magnesium are Broccoli, Peanuts, Soy milk, Cooked Spinach, and Tofu.

Selenium : Foods rich in selenium are wheat germ mushrooms, asparagus, garlic and onion.


Sulfur : Foods rich in Legumes, grains, garlic and onion

Zinc : Foods rich in Yoghurt, baked potato, pea, salmon.

    Thanks for visiting :), try the last rinse of the hair with white vinegar mixed with water in 1:10 ratio, this will not only remove the dandruff but also make the hair shiny. Hope this helps :)
