Hair Removal For Men

For the longest time it was only women who took part in hair removal and the only time you saw a guy with no hair on his body was if he was a bodybuilder or a swimmer. But not anymore, manscaping is an everyday thing now, more and more men are opting to have a smooth body just like the ladies.

You will find that most men do not want to be sheared like a sheep, but they do want things thinned out on their chest and back and sometimes yes completely removed, and usually in 100% of the cases when a man wants to go get his hair removed he's removing all the hair on his back. I guess for some reason women just don't like hugging a shag carpet. Go figure?

Not only is the hair on a guys back and chest fair game some men are even waxing their eyebrows, and the reason why they're waxing their eyebrows is because they want to shape them so they can get rid of that unibrow look, and while they're at it they also get the areas around her ears and the back of their neck cleaned up as well.

And for the more adventurous guys, they are following the women all the way and even getting a Brazilian wax, and to those man I want to take my hat off to you because you have way more courage than I will ever have, can you say ouch!! I remember the first time I got my back waxed, and I had a pretty hairy back, first the lady shaved me and oiled me me up and got me all prepared.

Trust me I thought I was prepared I'm a guy I can handle this, when she put that wax on and took the first rip at the strip I swear to God I thought I was going to jump through the roof. Never got a wax again, I'm a laser hair removal guy now.

So let's get into the 3 most popular hair removal options that men have:

As I mentioned a moment ago the number one hair removal technique available to both men and women is a Laser Hair Removal Treatment. You can use a laser hair remover treatment to remove hair from any part of the body the you don't want. You could remove hair from your shoulders, your chest, your back, your legs, and if you're courageous enough even around your genitalia.

So you may be asking "If I want to use laser hair removal, does it matter what color my skin is?" It doesn't matter what the color of your skin is you can use laser removal as a method to get rid of your hair but just know if you have darker skin you're going to have to have more treatments.

Simply put if you have light skin it's going to take less treatments to get rid of your hair and if you have dark skin it's going to take more treatments to get rid of your hair. It's less hair pigment verses light hair pigment.

So how does the laser hair treatment removal work?

Using laser light energy what happens is the laser actually penetrates the hair shaft and kills the root of the hair. Now it doesn't kill the follicle and the follicle is where the hair growth starts, so technically another hair could grow but it's really, really difficult for that to happen.

The great thing about laser hair treatment is there is no anesthesia involved, there is a slight pain, it's more like someone giving you a light pinch. But if you're a person that can't stand any pain whatsoever there are numbing creams that can be used before your treatment.

Now laser hair removal treatments are not cheap, on average a one-hour laser hair removal treatment will run you between $400 and $500 and depending on your hair color you could need anywhere between 3 to 8 treatments.

But also just let me say this, the cost is going to vary from person to person because every person is unique, so you will find that most laser removal clinics are going to ask you to come in for consultation before they quote you any type of price. And you'll find the most clinics pricing is about the same, and in many cases they're going to quote you either by a flat fee or by time.

So if your quote is a flat fee and let's say you're a guy and they look at your back and they say it's going to cost $500 per treatment, and you will also find this flat fee will include a package of treatments. So no matter how little or how much hair you have on your back they're going to say when you come in its $500.

If you get quoted time the clinic could say what we charge $100 for every 15 min. so depending on the thickness and the amount of the hair on your back, this is going to determine how much is going to cost to get that hair removed. So if it only takes half an hour you know your fee is going to be $200.

Once you've completed your treatments to remove the hair in your back and were using this as an example you'll will have to come in for what's called a "touch up" and that usually happens only once a year.

Okay the number two most used treatment for hair removal is Waxing.

Okay from my previous story you can tell that I'm not a big fan a waxing but it does cost a lot less than a laser treatment. But it is my duty to tell you what you're getting into when you decide to do waxing.

The cool thing is nowadays gone are all those sticky glue kind of waxes that they use to put on you, now it's soya based waxes and lotions that only stick to the hair. So what they do is they apply these specially prepared strips and when the mixture dries they rip it off just like a Band-Aid, hurts like a son of a gun but your hair is gone.

Now using this method you can remove hair from any party your body I guess honestly it is just dependent on what your threshold for pain is. The cost for treatment again depends where you're getting your hair removed. But you can bank on it being anywhere from $10 to as high as $100 per treatment.

Unlike laser treatments where after you've received all your treatments you only have to go in once a year for a touch up, you're going to have to get your hair removed by waxing about every 4 to 6 weeks.

So this is where you really have to do the math. Let's go on average that a waxing for you is $75, and let's say about every five weeks you have to go in and get waxed this means you're going to be spending $750 per year for your waxing.

If you compare that to a laser treatment sure the upfront costs are a lot more but the long-term costs are a lot less.

Okay the third and final way of the hair remover is called Electrolysis. Now electrolysis a lot more time-consuming because what happens is a tiny needle is put into the individual hair shaft and then given a shock that actually kills the follicle and hair will never grow back.

The treatments for electrolysis are actually pretty short there about 10 to 20 min. but if you have a lot of hair that you want to remove this is probably going to take you about a year to get all your hair removed and this means going to the electrolysis every week for treatment.

On average the cost for electrolysis treatment is around I'd say $30-$50. But the great thing about electrolysis is that it is permanent so compared to laser hair removal or wax treatments were you have to go back for treatments, once you do electrolysis you're done the hair is never coming back.

Sure it may cost you a lot more up front but once you're done paying you're done paying.

So there you go, those are the top three methods for hair removal, now it's just a matter of picking the treatment that is best for you.
