- Not a real disaster, but still embarrassing, I use my favorite color, but just once it was a different color under the same label... I was in stripes, which I hate it... so I corrected as quick as I can

- Yikes! Luckily, I have never had a hair disaster. However my daughter died her hair blue but it turn out chartreuse because she is a very light blonde. But my stylist fixed it for her. :)
Great info. I can't imagine how horrible that would be if your stylist did it.

- I have had a minor color disaster when I was trying to get navy hair. The stylist was obviously not sure what she was doing and didn't use enough (I have long hair and she only used one tube,,,she was stretching it out. Furthermore, it barely stayed in for a week, but that might be because my hair was too healthy? Sigh...

- Blue is the fastest color to fade out of the hair. The best thing is to do a couple of layers and maybe do more about a week later.

- I'm lucky in that my hair color is holding it's own so I won't need to dye my hair hopefully for many years yet to come. So glad to see you working on lenses here at Squidoo. There are many hair issues that so very many people would love to have more information on.

- Everyone can always use a little haircolor! It's like make up for the hair! ;) Please let me know what issues you think people would like to read about. It always is sort of hard to decide what to write so ideas are always great! Thanks for all of your likes and blessings!

- Maybe you should call her and ask her about it. Maybe she could do a quick toner on the blonde to make them less light and the brown might shampoo out after a couple days.
If you have been a good client I am sure she will want the chance to make it better!

- Had my hair highlighted. Apparently she mixed color wrong. The blonde turned whitish and the other turned "barney" purple. So unhappy. Went back next day and she tried other colors to change it. Blonde is a little better, not much and purple turned black but still hint if purple. It looks horrible. Going back Wednesday. What else can be done? If they can just get it back to brown, it would be so much bettet.

- That doesn't sound like fun. Sorry you are going through that. It is so hard to recommend anything without seeing it. I am sure your stylist is just as upset as you. We tend to really criticize ourselves when we make a mistake. I know you have to wear it but I am sure she is losing sleep too! From what I THINK is going on I would almost just start over. I would take out all of the color with a color remover like the one from Goldwell. And first I would see if I could remove the color that way. Then start it all over with alternating foils of three colors. 1 the lightest blonde that you want 2 your natural color 3 a middle color a little closer to the blonde. It won't be perfect, but it will be a whole lot closer to what you want then where you are! Good luck.

- Sounds like the bleach must have been on longer in the back of your hair. What you can do is use something like a shampoo with color in it. There are several brands on the market. You want to get one that actually has color in it not just color safe. Your hairdresser can help you decide. Also, you can speak with your hairdresser and see if a quick toner might help to even out the blonde highlights. It is a quick way to balance out the blondes, not affect the dark and just gives a beautiful shine to all the hair!

- Yup, a blonde color will make your own natural color (the roots) go a lighter color. Since your hair is a lot darker than the blonde color you put on the blonde color cannot counteract the natural warmth that is exposed. I would recommend you go to a hairdresser who specializes in color in your area. If you are looking to save some money, see if a salon is looking for a color correction model. You can also try beauty schools or training centers for that as well. Good Luck!

- I put a tint in to change my blonde hair black - I wanted to look awful for a Halloween party - unfortunately, my pudding looked worse than my hair - ended up disowning my pudding and darkening my hair color on a more permanent basis.

Oct 2, 2011 @ 12:18 am | delete
- Hi You need to talk to your hairdresser about this. Sorry I am so late responding to this. Dandruff is a fungal thing and not related to haircolor. But the dryness etc could be. Have your hairdresser look closely at your scalp and let you know if there are parts falling out. If so, you may want to talk with a dermatologist and see if there is something they can do for you. Maybe you are sensitive to the color you used and you should not continue using it. Good luck!

- I have used this hairdresser 5 times about every 2 mo.the last time I went she made the color to dark I like two colors of hilights.I called her 2 days later & told her it was to dark of a brown & ask if she could put a few lighter hilights in.I went 15 min.late she said you running late I said I am sorry.she asked what I wanted done I told her to put some hilights to lighten it up & asked for color swatch & tryed to ask her what she thought about the colors she was not friendly like she was the day I paid her 80.00 for the color anyway she put one color not two & told me she woudent be able to dry it because she had another app.she sent me out with towel dryed hair.I was planing on doing some shopping while I was out but not with wet head.do you think she could have at the least dryed my hair not style just dryed it for two minutes? Her next app.had not not there.

- Wow that's no fun! Sorry to hear about that. In defense of your hairdresser, what I would say is that sometimes we tend to book our schedules really tight and need people to be waiting to keep the flow going. Maybe her other client isn't as understanding as you and she felt that you could understand why you had to leave with wet hair. Maybe next time ask if there is an assistant that could dry it or worse case could you borrow a blow dryer! For your color consultation I would recommend that you pull a few pictures (3 max) from some magazines so you can show what effect you would like. More than 3 and then it gets too confusing and will just frustrate you both! If your hairdresser isn't working for you, you can always go and get consultations from a few and find one that works for you. Good luck!

- I ended up with a terrible color the very first time I had it colored. Much to dull and dark. Then, she put some highlights in it to make it better, but it was only worse. It looked like I had streaks of gray. I was like 38 years old and looked 50. I found a new hairdresser.

- I use a rinse to do mine, which usually lasts about 6 to 8 weeks. Did it last week and it came out much too dark, almost black in fact. Now I am just washing it oten as I know the color will fade, it always does. Great lens and very helpful.

- Well, you really should go see your hairdresser but I understand not everyone can or wants to. Or you could even go to a hairdressing school. But if you just have to do your own ( I understand!!! That is how it all started for me! ), you might want to get some Malibu Crystals. They are a citric acid treatment you mix with water. There are different ones ie. well water remover, color remover, protein builder - They are totally safe and usually make your hair feel even better. Good luck! Let me know if you need a hairdresser recommendation. I know a lot all over the place!

- I have been going to the same hairdresser for many years, she has slowed down, and this time i can't go to work with this hair. I have highlights put in and I told her that the top was burning and she said oh! you must have a scratch on my head don't worry about it.
The front of my head around my face is white blond and never have i ever worn my hair like this she kept saying oh I like it that way! Please help is there a way that i could get something from the store just maybe to tone it down without making it orange.

- Hi Shelly! Thanks for your comment. I would recommend you read my other lens about finding the right hairdresser for you. You should interview a few more and find one that will listen to what you want and make great recommendations to best suit your needs. It is really too hard to recommend a color/technique on here and especially when you are in a bad place with your hair, you really want to go to a professional hairdresser. I wouldn't want for it to get even worse!

- I haven't colored my hair in years. I had it black once, but mostly lightened or streaks. Some-times I put lemon or graph-fruit juice in my hair to lighten it a bit. I can see wear hair color mistakes could be a problem, green wouldn't look good on anyone except me. Lol!

- I can remember, as a child, when my mother died her hair for the first time. It came out "ORANGE." I mean really orange, not the fashion in those days.. The women she knew all came up with ideas on what to do. Someone recommended something and the rest said don't do that it'll turn green. My poor mother was in a panic and the only thing she could do was wait until it eventually went away through washing. She could have used you.

- I've had almost every color of hair. The only one that never took was black. I even had extensions at one time. I looked like Cher when she had curly hair. It was pretty funny. A guy that came into where I worked all the time thought I was my twin.
