Top Tips For Taming That Curly Mane
I remember the first time I straightened my hair. Equipped with a ten dollar hair dryer and no product. Visualize being struck by lightening. Or Bride of Frankenstein. Great for best prize in a Halloween contest but not very good for a night out.

Step One: Product Application
- Wash and Condition hair
- Towel dry
- Apply a mixture of Paul Mitchell's Super Skinny Serum and Pureology's Antifade Superstraight
- Evenly distribute thru hair
My Recommended Products:
Step Two: Blow Dry
- Seperate hair into sections
- Starting from bottom wrap each section around a large round barrell brush and gently unroll until dry
- Repeat with all sections until hair is dry
- Flip head over and dry all hair at once
Alternate blow dry technique
*Please note: Technique #1 can take more time but for thicker, curlier hair may produce better results.
Hot Hair Dryers
Choose the best dryer that will not cause damage to your tresses
Step Three: Flat Iron
Time for the good stuff!

- Apply Paul Mitchell's Super Skinny(or other preferred smoothing product)to protect hair and seal follicles before flat ironing
- Separate hair into sections
- Starting from bottom hold section of hair firmly at end
- Gently run the flat iron from roots to ends
- Repeat process until each strand is straight
Beware: Don't hold the flat iron in one section for longer than a few seconds. This could cause damage to hair and will also give unattractive ripples.
My recommendations for quality flat irons
I have tried other irons that have stripped my hair. Which ended up causing more frizz when I go curly.
One More Tip: Deep Conditioning
Your Hair will love you for it!
How often depends on how much processing you are doing. If often, deep condition once a week.
If not (good for you) deep condition once a month for that extra love on your hair.
- Wash hair as normal
- Towel dry
- Apply deep conditioner Redken All Soft Heavy Cream (product of your choice)
- Evenly massage into hair
- Let sit for 5 minutes
- Rinse hair and style

- Great tips. I used to straighten my natural curls with a flat iron, but I had bought some cheap one because I thought they were all the same. BIG mistake. I wear it curly these days, but I'll get a better iron next time I want to go straight.

- My hair is naturally curly and I have given up trying to keep it straight, it has always done its own thing, so I just let it.
