Why are hairy men villified?

Hairy Men are Gorgeous!

Humans are covered with hair, even the most fair-haired, pixie-like person has body hair unless they are suffering from a medical condition. Androgenic hair (hair that appears post-puberty) is due to the male hormones present in both men and women. Men have more of these hormones (yes, really) so are generally hairier.

So one could assume then, that the hairier the bloke, the more 'manly' he is. Which makes you wonder why so many men prefer to remove their body hair.

You're a woman, right? How do you feel about hairy men? Do you purr or do you run?

You're not a woman; you ARE a hairy bloke? Are you proud of your mat? Do you hate it? Do you do all you can to get rid of the lovely, curly stuff?

Hairy backs 

Men with hairy shoulders and backs seem to engender a wide range of reactions among the fair sex. Some women hate them, others love and cherish them while others could care less. Those who profess to delight in a hairy chest are unable to accord the same affection to a hairy back. Why is this? It's the same thing, right?

Hairy fronts 

A few years ago, a moderately hairy chest was all the rage. I remember being very proud of the fact that I had a boyfriend with at least three hairs on his chest. These days it seems that more and more men prefer the hairless look.

I can't say that I like it - I think I prefer a hairy chest on a man. What do you think?

Who likes a hairy chest? Cameron Diaz does:
