An Illustrated Tutorial About Ballet Positions
Welcome to the world of Halloween Ballet. Your tutor Rudolf Nureyevkin will show you a few classic ballet positions. Rudolf leads the world famous Royal Halloween Pumpkins Ballet School.
Years of hard training and stretching made him a bit skinny, It's hard to gain weight if you live from Pumpkin Soup and Roasted Pumpkin Seeds only to dance daily - it's not a handicap for him, he won many ballet awards and dance trophies. He was the first and only russian man (or better: the first dancing skeleton) who danced as Odette and Odile in Swan Lake.
His unique look makes him stand out of the crowd of talented ballet dancers, his performances won the hearts of millions of ballet lovers, he guided thousands of ballet pupils from the basic steps to mastering ballet. Endless the list of ballet dancers who are now famous stars on stage.
Rudolf earned never ending applause for his spooky choreographies of Peter Pan, Swan Lake, Nutcracker and other major Ballet Stage Plays. To make a long story short: Ballet dance is the meaning of his life!
P.S.: Royal Ballet because Rudolf's aunt had an affair with Louis XIV around 1661 when he founded the Académie Royale de Danse

Here you see only a few examples of available gifts for Ballet lovers
First Position Flat
Your feet face outward forming a straight line, heels must touch each other while balls of your feet are turned out completly.
Always great fun for Ballet pupils to watch Ballet beginners when they try to keep balance.
Stand up and give it a try but be careful not to crash against your monitor!
First Position Pointe
Much more difficult than Position One Flat:
For lifting up your body and standing on your toes you need good Pointe shoes and a lot of painful training and self-discipline.
Ballet students should only begin with Pointe techniques after their teachers allow it.
It looks easier than it is!
Second Position Flat
Almost like First Position Flat but feet are spread apart.
Feet are turned out 180 degrees, distance between them should be wider than Rudolf is showing it here but he still shows an almost perfect straight line.
Many traffic policemen have mastered this position too - no need to wear Ballet shoes if you want to give it try too!
Halloween Ballet Costumes
Little Ballerins will love to wear it daily
Third Position Flat
Feet are turned out while one foott is in front of the other foot. Both feet are flat on the floor. Rudolf's weight (haha) is evenly distributed.
When right foot is in front left arm is raised, when left foot is in front right arm will be raised.
Not a difficult position but makes everyone look like a ballerina.
Fourth Position Pointe
Feet are placed as in Third Position but a step apart.
The right arm is raised up while the left arm curls toward the body, forming a half circle right in front of the chest.
This position is utilized usually before a leap or perhaps a mid-air split
Rudolf is free of pain since he has no nerves anymore.
Retire

Toes of one foot are brought up to the knee of the other leg, the foot should rest against the front or back of the supporting knee.
Rudolf has not enough flesh anymore to demonstrate it properly, but in his golden days he could stand for hours like this while giving instructions to his Ballet pupils.
Arabesque
This is one of the most graceful Ballet positions. The body stands in profile to the audience, supported on one leg while the other leg is raised and extended behind.
The arms are held in various positions creating a long line from the fingertips to the toes
Rudolf shows an Arabesque en pointe just like a Prima Ballerina Assoluta.

Grand Jeté

Grand Jete is a big leap like flying through the air. Grand jete literally means a big throw of the legs. In the jump one leg is thrown forward, the other leg extended behind.
A lightweight as Rudolf can jump from one corner of the stage to the other while giving his arms different marvelous positions.
Banana Slip
As you eventually already know, the Banana Slip is NOT one of the classic Ballet positions!
Rudolf stepped on the fruit which a nervous ballerina lost rushing on the way to her premiere in Sleeping Beauty.
Luckily he got no bruises, only the audience listening to Tchaikovsky's masterpiece got disturbed by the ratlle behind the scene - imagine the sound a skeleton man makes!
