Halloween Costumes Superman

Superheroes are always big for Halloween and there are certainly many from which to choose. But somehow, the newer superheroes just don't stand up to the classic Superman of my youth!

A few weeks ago we were traveling south from St.Louis to Atlanta and we stopped in the small Illinois town of Metropolis. This town claims to be the hometown of Superman. They have a giant statue of Superman in their town. The photo here is one I took while visiting Metropolis. As my husband and I looked at the statue we recalled the memories of the 1950's TV show and the opening lines.

Yes, it's Superman ... strange visitor from another planet, who came to Earth with powers and abilities far beyond those of mortal men! Superman ... who can change the course of mighty rivers, bend steel in his bare hands, and who, disguised as Clark Kent, mild-mannered reporter for a great metropolitan newspaper, fights a never-ending battle for truth, justice, and the American way!

Isn't it amazing the images that those words can bring to mind. In an era where TV was just becoming popular the Superman series was a hit with many young people and today with the Superman movies a whole new generation is enthralled with Superman!

In looking for Superman Halloween Costumes I found a wide variety of costumes ranging from a bunting type for babies to extra large sizes for men and everything in between.

So this Halloween put on your cape and become Superman who is " Faster than a speeding bullet! More powerful than a locomotive! Able to leap tall buildings in a single bound! "
