A Pink Halloween Fairy
This is the story of a pink tutu Halloween costume. For a long time my husband, Don and I had this idea to make a pink tutu costume for HIM! We just thought it was a funny idea but we never really had a reason to make it. Then one year his place of work had a Halloween Costume Contest for their employees. Here was the perfect opportunity! I went out and bought pink tulle, pink rosebuds, pink dye, fairy wings, a magic wand and some other accessories. Then I set to work sewing, gluing, dying long underwear pink and making a tiara out of glitter pipe cleaners. Can you imagine walking into a casino in Lake Tahoe on Halloween and seeing a pit boss dressed like a pink fairy? It caused quite a stir, let me tell you! I hope you enjoy reading about the fun we had with this.

A funny Halloween Costume
Of course I couldn't find a pattern for a tutu Halloween costume for a man, so I ended up buying a pattern for a little girl. I had to wing it with that, estimating the amount of tulle needed. Making the tutu was the hardest part. The tulle was quite slippery but I finally accomplished it. I decided it didn't have to be perfect. After I got the tutu together I hot glued on little pink satin rosebuds.

A fun and memorable Halloween
We walked through my place of work and Don turned quite a few heads in there. Walking to his work, standing at a light by a crosswalk, he blessed the passing cars with his wand and they honked at him in return. One of his co-workers told him, "You must be secure in your manhood to wear a costume like that." All day at work people laughed and commented and he would bless them with his wand. Everyone had a good time with it and it was a fun Halloween at work. We felt that we accomplished our goal.

My place of work was across the street from my husband's. I was a 21 dealer in a casino. One Halloween about 5 years later I had a couple on my table who were commenting on the costumes they were seeing. They said, "Remember that fairy guy we saw one Halloween across the street?" I said, "A big pink fairy?" "Yes," they said. "That was my husband," said I. They were still laughing about it 5 years later. We considered our pink fairy costume to be a big success. Oh, and he did win the $25 first prize in the Halloween Costume Contest.

I think Don deserves a big thank you for being good-natured and allowing me to share this with you. Thanks for being a good sport, Don! This is the first time in about 15 years that he has put on his tutu. But you never know, maybe another occasion will come along that will motivate him to get it out of storage.

- I love your husband! Not sure if I could convince mine to wear a costume like that. In fact, he'd be hard to convince to wear anything more than a Hawaiian shirt and dress as Magnum P.I. (But I love him anyway.) Great lens!

It's easy to tell looking at him that he is a real man - no sissy there! and seeing him in this outfit is twice as funny because of that! Hilarious! Hilarous!
