Do You Believe in Ghosts?

From the lens Halloween History Trivia And Fun.

Thank you for posting your commentTell us if you believe in ghosts and why. Or just drop a comment on this lens and let me know what you think or suggest something you would like added:

According to most recent Gallup Poll around 32% of people in the US believe in the paranormal. I think much more people than that are believers. What do you think about such things as ghosts, demons, poltergeists and things that go "bump in the night"?

Halloween isn't big in Australia where I grew up (sadly) so I felt a little ripped off as a kid when I watched movies like ET. Cool lens, Halloween is definitely my favorite time of the year.

The tradition started in Ireland? I didn't know that. I thought it was Transylvania :} Flying off to check out your other links.

We mermaids definitely do believe in the paranormal. We are the paranormal. Once we thought the Earth was flat until Columbus sailed around it. I love halloween time when we dress up and believe in the paranormal even if it's just for fun...or is it?
  • prosperity66 Oct 11, 2009 @ 7:31 am | delete
Great lens here! However, I think you should remove the second table tf contents or at least move it down to the bottom of the lens so that we're able to return to a module we would like to visit once again :)
By the way, I found your lens on Squidom...

Great lens. Wouldn't be misplaced in a professional magazine! I am a big Halloween fan. I get to dress up as Santa during X-mas, but prefer something more 'True Blood' on Halloween.

I certainly believe in ghosts and I do enjoy reading about them. Can't wait for Halloween!

Definite 5 stars Grampa! You have obviously done a lot of research on the Halloween festival - either that or you are some kind of druid yourself! ;o) 5 stars!

Really great lens, I enjoyed reading through it. I love the big pumpkin eating the little one! Even if it all originated from Europe, I still think the Americans do it so much better! 5* from me :)
  • Portable_eBay Oct 8, 2008 @ 5:47 am | delete
We don't have pumpkins that big here... We use papayas... whit candles inside and some on on skateboards to make them mobile at night.

Hello TheWHistler, I didnt actually say that Halloween originated in Ireland. I did say that carving the jack o lantern orignited in Ireland, but for the rest of it the traditions of Halloween as we know it came from several different origins.
  • TheWhistler Oct 5, 2008 @ 12:42 pm | delete
I don't think you can say Halloween originated in Ireland. It was a Celtic tradition, yes, and possibly the Halloween celebrated in American today was brought by the Irish. However I think you will find that overall the Halloween we know evolved out of the British Isles, in particular Scotland and Ireland.

I'm a Halloween fanatic and I do, in fact, believe in "ghosts". Maybe not the classic sense of a haunted house with floating sheets, but I have experienced being in the presence of non-living spirits several times.
