Top 10 Scariest Halloween Movie Villains
The 'Best' Halloween Villains Of All Time
Anyway, let me say first that horror movies are NOT my favorite movies but I know they are probably yours. I used to watch them all of the time but I stopped abruptly when I met Kathy Bates' character in Stephen King's Misery. I am not sure if time has worsened my memory of that movie or if it simply was horrifying. In any case, it is firmly stuck in my mind as awful and as the reason I stopped watching horror movies.
Anyway, after reading that statement, you are probably wondering WHY I created this page and I will admit that I did not. I adopted it from a friend who wrote this list of the BEST HALLOWEEN VILLAINS using favorites from when she was younger and villains that are simply memorable. Some are fairly new while others have been scaring people for generations. They will all be remembered for many more years to come.
I've left my friend's personal comments and added my own, where appropriate. I have rearranged the movies in alphabetical order so that the order will not influence your thoughts when you vote for your favorite horrible movie character at the end of the page. I've also chosen to feature some other excellent movie pages that discuss some of these characters and their films in more detail.
Norman Bates From Psycho
Can you honestly tell me that you have never thought about the deadly bathroom scene when you were getting ready to take a shower at home? Both my friend and I have.Norman Bates was a great villain because he was so unsuspecting. Creepy, yes, but he seemed harmless. I think those are the best kind of villains. The added element of him being schizophrenic and pretending to be his dead mother didn't hurt either.

Candyman From Candyman
From the movie of the same name.
Candyman was a villain that scared my friend as a child and I wonder what she was doing watching it as a child for it certainly is NOT a child-friendly movie. Anyway, the Candyman was wrongfully tortured in the 1800s and comes back to kill anyone who calls on him. All you have to do is say 'Candyman' five times. My friend had nightmares of Candyman coming after her with his hook (yes, he had a hook as a hand.) This movie is not for anyone who scares easily. Candyman, like most of the movies on this page, is rated R. Candyman (Special Edition)

Frank The Rabbit From Donnie Darko
Frank is a villain that my friend recently discovered. He is a scary looking bunny in the nastiest rabbit costume you will ever see.Did we mention that Frank the rabbit predicts the end of the world and tells Donnie Darko to do horrible things in his sleep?
Frank is ruthless and creepy...just like the movie. If you like movies with a twist ending, this is the one to see.
Freddy Krueger From Nightmare On Elm Street
You knew Freddy Krueger was going to be on the list...he's on every Halloween list. Why? Because Freddy is awesome. He never dies! He keeps coming back to terrorize the families of the people who killed him. Wouldn't you?Freddy was the first villain that kept my friend up at night and he still gives her (and the rest of us) the heebie jeebies.
Thanks for all the nightmares, Freddy!

Jigsaw From Saw
Saw is a movie that there is absolutely, positively NO WAY I would watch. However, I know that Jigsaw has many, many fans.

Michael Myers From Halloween
Michael Myers is the scariest villain that you will never truly understand. He murdered his older sister as a child and was committed to a Sanitarium. After 15 years, he escaped and went on a killing spree. Over the course of nine films, Michael has terrorized what is left of his family and their friends and keeps coming back after several 'attempts' on his life...if he even is alive. That's what makes Michael so scary. He is a soulless individual with no regard for human life and he also possesses an intelligent quality that makes him hard to outsmart. He is like the complete package when it comes to villains.

Jason Voorhees From Friday The 13th
I don't think there is a person in America who doesn't know who this masked figure is. Jason is the machete wielding killer who was immortalized as the boy who drowned at Camp Crystal Lake. Many people don't know that the film was actually created with Mrs. Voorhees, Jason's mother, being the killer and the film ending in her death. Before the filming was over, it was decided to have Jason 'come back' from the lake and continue to avenge his mother's death. How sweet. It wasn't until the third film that Jason took on the hockey mask look that we all recognize today. Jason is a villain icon and deserves to be on any Halloween list.Picture courtesy of Wikipedia.

- The best villains for Halloween are the children, witness Damien from the omen. What could be more horrifying than a child with evil intent? I enjoyed this lens as it took me back to some of my favorite horror movies. See you around the galaxy...

- This is a great lens. Having seen all these movies and their sequels I have to say my favorite is still the old school 1980's Freddy Krueger.
This lens has been Blessed!

- I've only seen a couple of these a long time ago. I know lots of people love horror movies but they are not my cup of tea. I'll stick with the Hallmark movies that you review!

- I'm not into scary movies, though of course I did watch Psycho. I agree that the Norman Bates type villains have to be the worst - because they could live next door! Ha! Made you look (or maybe think a minute)!
