Be it religious or secular, most of the festivals calls for communal celebrations and parties. Communal feasts, as occasion for eating, drinking and merry making, have a long recorded history, going back to the days of Greek civilization, or even before that. Perhaps the popularity of costumes and costume parties today is a manifestation of our yearning for the good old days. May be this is why the adult princess costume are so popular these days. A good day to wear costumes and masks is the Halloween day, which is celebrated on October 31. It has its origin in the ancient Celtic harvest festival. To placate the dead the Celts wore masks, lighted bonfire and threw the bones of the slaughtered animals into it.

However, we have given up neither the tradition of partying, nor the tradition of wearing masks and costumes, which were once very spooky. Indeed the costumes have become more varied and more refined. Halloween military costume was not available in the days of the Celtic peasants. You can give scary names to the food or beverage you serve. You can bake cakes in the shape of gravestone or pastries or patties in the shape of hands or something like that. Do not forget to label them or all the fun will be lost.

Party games too can be given some scary names.

Traditionally Halloween costumes were rather frightening. However, this concept has changed over the years and all sorts of costumes are now worn. As Halloween military costumes are not military uniforms in reality, they can be worn for other informal social dos. Princess costumes on the other hand are meant for occasions that are more formal.
