A lens to raise goosebumps, the willies and restless nights tossing. Halloween, All Hallows Eve, Samhain. No matter what you call it the day is soon approaching. Can you believe it's come and gone?

This lens will line up ghosts and ghouls to set your imagination loose! Get the candles burning and turn off the lights.

With your face underlit and aglow start reading aloud....

Storytelling

A small helping hand

On my lens Campfire Stories you can find several resources to help improve your storytelling ability. Most folks simply print the stories and read them.

If you know of a good story you'd like to share click add to this list at the bottom where the stories are listed.

Is that candle ready? Gather everyone round...

Listen to Scary Stories and Download Mp3's

Download your scares!

American Folklore is offering tons of great stuff. Stories to download are available here and here. To save these right click, then click save link as - you'll download the mp3 to play on your computer. This works for every other website as well. I recommend The Hermit's House and Tailypo cause they're scary. More are added each week and they get scarier as we approach Halloween!

Over at Scary for Kids you can grab a couple of good stories. I really liked "Three Skeleton Key" because Vincent Price can sound really spooky when he reads a story.

You can also download audio stories over at KOA. You'll find a variety of scary tales to enjoy. Mind you that many have a camping theme, but not all.

If you really enjoy listening to Halloween stuff be sure to visit WFMU's Beware of the Blog. Lots of links to follow and free stuff to download. Even though it might be older than you, it is timeless material. Bill Cosby even reads one!(hint - under "Old Time Radio Horror" - it's marked)

!!!!! Glow Sticks !!!!!

Glow sticks make kids more visible after dark. Tie one to a wrist by the lanyard and watch the kids have a ball. Don't worry about the leftovers, they'll hold just fine until Spring when you can pass them out at the bbq's. You will be the most sought after person come dusk, I promise!

Mark Wol17 is a seller from whom I've personally purchased glow sticks. I received exactly what I expected with no problems. He has an excellent rating. His glowsticks are usually 6" by 10mm. 10mm = 1cm, 2.54cm = 1" The picture is exactly what you will get.

The 'big' glow sticks are not reinforced with extra plastic. They are kinda bendy and around pencil thickness for all you picture people. Each order includes lanyards and string. For 50 expect to pay around $23 - avoid bidding wars to keep the price down.

Shipping is via USPS Priority Mail within 24 hrs of payment, Mon. - Fri.

More Tales of Terror!

Story of the Demon
Another story from Richard Martin at Tell a Tale. A great barebones story for you to embellish. Make it as scary as you want - or as you dare!
The Ghost of Fiddler's Rock
The story of a famous ghost fiddler in the Tennessee mountains. From The Moonlit Road. This story has a really creepy part, that is unless you're a herpetologist or maybe just a biologist.
Rashes And Scratches
DeadGirlSquawking tells a scary tale even if her grammar and spelling drives you crazy. Clean up some of her 'texting' style narration for easier reading and you will raise goosebumps! Or maybe you don't trip over that stuff like I do, lol!
A Ghost Story by Mark Twain
This is a long one from Mr. Twain. Meant more to be read. From Greg's Halloween page.

Story Websites

Instead of linking to the websites in the tale summary I'm gonna keep things less cluttered. You'll find all the websites these stories came from here.
Tell a Tale
Richard Martin's website on storytelling and tales. A super site that includes helpful storytelling ideas which you'll find under resources. Worth the visit!
Bed Tyme Tales
A kids website with wholesome tales. Scary? Hmmmmm, not really but I'm sure you're not looking for nightmares lol. A good site with short stories.
Literature.org - Edgar Allan Poe
A small collection of some of Poe's tales to help put some creepiness into your nights!
Ghost Stories Online
Wow! There are like a hundred of 'em here! Of varying quality, length and suitability you can't help but stumble across something you'll like here.
A Girl's World
A great site written specifically for girls! Tons of great stuff on this website!

What can you do with Pumpkin Guts?
KimberlyDawnWells writes another great lens to that unasked question. Too often, encapsulated in newspaper, all those great guts go in the garbage!
