Nicely done. Hope you win a prize for most authentic graveyard.

Fun ideas! My wife and I are making some tombstones. I have extra 1/2" cement board that I am using. Nice thing is that it's water resistant (much more so than plywood) it's gray in color and durable.

what you could also do which ive seen done. go to the dollar store and get the cheap foam boogie boards. and use those for tombstones as well. just carve what you want written on it and then paint it. i found this stone colored spraypaint at sears that would look cool as well. you could also decorate them with that foam insulation as well for added effect as well. just some more ideas to add.

Hi Mosaic, the photos next to the instructions at the top are tombstones that I made. All of my props currently fit in one very big box. The plywood graves stack in there easily because I used detachable brackets for the base. The styrofoam graves are fragile and need to be packed carefully.
  • mosaic Jun 29, 2008 @ 9:19 am | delete
Are any of these photos pictures of YOUR graveyard? Cool stuff. I wonder if your garage is just stuffed with tombstone props. They must take up a lot of space!
  • HalloweenHafe May 21, 2008 @ 2:24 am | delete
Nice lens, I too am all for creating your own Halloween props. Its much more original than buying them and a lot more fun.

I think that halloween decorating is the best thing to do. I started making tombstones the year before last and it is so fun! I have learned something from it each time and this year im planning on making them out of wood. Thanks for all the ideas everyone!

Cool lens. I've made tombstones out of those flat rectsngular cement blocks from the building supply store. They worked great. I just painted on them. To store them, I turn them upside down in my veggie garden.
