Let's make some Halloween Party Food
A Halloween party can be great fun. The joy of Halloween can be restored, the spooky stories can be shared, the customs can be admired and most important the children can have a lot of fun in the safety of their own homes. Children love to put together their own foods and they love the thought of Eating an item with an unusually name. Stuff Bones, Bug topping pies, and green slim dip and chips! These are a few of the recipes I want to share. Print out the page and keep these recipes to revise and share with other families who are wanting to bring the spirit of Halloween back where it use to be so many years ago!

Halloween Cookbooks!!
Stuffed Bones-
crunch, crunch, crunch!!!
Stuffed Bones: (Mini Flatbread Cheeseburger Wraps)1 cup of all purpose flour
1 Teaspoon of baking powder
2 Tablespoons of powdered buttermilk
2 Tablespoons of Canola Oil
¼ teaspoon of Sea Salt (opt.)
Water
Mix everything together adding a little water at a time. The objective is to have a firm dough ball so make sure your dough is not too sticky. Divide into 8 or smaller sections and roll into a ball.
Cook some 3 inch oval miniature hamburgers and set on some scot towel to drain off any excess grease. Slice some cheese into the size of the miniature hamburgers.
Roll out your dough flat and add the hamburger and cheese to it. Fold the dough completely around the meat and cheese into the shape of a small log (representing a bone) Make sure the dough completely covers the meat and cheese because if not the cheese will run out. Bake at 425 for 10-15 minutes (until they are golden brown). Cover with a towel when you take them out of the oven.
Set them on a plate with a bowl of ketchup and make a small sign for the front of the plate saying something like "Stuffed Bones".
(I made some of these the other night with chicken and Swiss cheese and dipped them in Peppercorn Ranch dressing. They were very yummy!)
Halloween Decorations
Bug Topping Pies (Mini Pizza's)
Bugs are good, Bugs are great, Lets take a bite of this yummy cake!!
Bug Topping Pies (Mini Pizza's)2 cups of all purpose flour
1 pack of yeast
1 cup of warm water
2 tablespoons of honey
½ teaspoon of sea salt
2 tablespoons of olive oil
In a bowl mix together, ½ cup of all purpose flour, 1 cup of warm water, 2 tablespoons of honey, ½ teaspoon of sea salt and olive oil. Use a hand whisker and whisk everything together until it is creamy. Slowly add the remaining flour. Sprinkle your surface with some flour and knead your dough for about 5 minutes. Spray your bowl with a non-stick cooking spray and place the dough back into the bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and let it rise about an hour. Knead again for another 5 minutes and let it rise again for another hour.
Divide your dough into small chunks. The objection is to have a round 3 inch disk when you roll the pieces out flat. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper and place your disk on that. Lightly spray or cover with olive oil and bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes or until lightly brown. These are your miniature pizza crust.
Puree some organic crushed tomatoes and heat up. Add a few spices like oregano, parsley, Italian seasoning, but you want to keep it light because it is for children. Heat everything and keep warm in a miniature crock pot.
Set little bowls of diced mushrooms, diced pepperoni, cheese and olives out and whatever else you think your children will like and they make their own little Bug Topping Pies. Again, set little labels in front of the items: olives could be labeled (slimy black beetles) Mushrooms could be labeled (diced night crawlers) the pot of sauce could be labeled (fresh blood) the cheese (dried brains) you can use your own imagination here.

Halloween Fun
Green Slim Dip and Chips
The slim is running off the chip, beware it may hit the floor and your foot will be slimmed!
Do you know, it is the simplest things in life that mean a lot and can be the most fun? You can purchase those readymade dips at the grocery store, put it into a bowl and add a little green food coloring. Stir it until you have the green coloring you want. Place it on the table with a bowl of chips, or those blue corn chips and let the kids enjoy it. But for fun you could also make this dip.... (Wicked laugh)Green Slim Dip
1 pack of onion soup mix
1 cup of sour cream
2 drops of green food coloring
½ cup diced tomato
Mix everything together and blend well. If the green is not dark enough add another drop of green food coloring. Keep refrigerated until you are ready for the party. Place the bowl the dip is in, into a large bowl with ice to keep the dip chilled. Have a couple of bowls of different chips, regular potato chips and blue corn chips would be good! Don't forget the labels!!!!!
Halloween and Recipes
can be as fun as you want to make them. To make the labels for your dishes, have the children help. Cut some halloween colored construction paper into little pumpkins or witches hat and write some groofy names down for the recipes. Place a little fake spider web (cotton) around the labels to make them more spooky.
The kids will love helping with projects. The most wonderful thing will be you sharing this wonderful time with your children!
Build your own Frozen Yogurt Party Tray!!
Okay, hear me out before you close or pass this module (smiles)
Large Bowl of Vanilla Yogurt
(have smaller bowls for the children so they can make their own bowl)
Have several little bowls of toppings with little labels:
Crushed Bones = Peanuts
Swamp bugs = Raisins
Old warts (yuck!) = Blueberries
Chocolate Sprinkles = Ants
Worms = Gummy Worms Chopped
This is a fun treat that will get lots of giggles!!
Yum-I am hungry for Frozen Yogurt now!!

- We love Halloween too!! In our neighborhood trick or treating seems to have come back and we get hundreds of kids walking around. We all dress up to take our group of kids around (my mother in law stays behind to give out the treats). We have a great time. Last year was a Star Wars theme as we dressed up like all the characters. Thanks for the great lens!
