Hamtaro is an adventurous and curious hamster who belongs to a girl named Laura (named Amy in the original books), and who secretly leads a society of hamsters called the Ham-hams.
While he rescues hamsters in trouble and goes on huge adventures, he still manages to keep his escape route and adventures a secret from Laura.

Hamtaro Games and Activities
It's Always fun to play with Hamtaro!
- Printable Hamster Tic Tac Toe game.
- Color and laminate and store in a Ziploc Bag.
Variation:
Hamster Workjob:
Using a photocopier, blow up one of the Hamsters. Color it and glue it onto a file folder.
Color and laminate the seeds and cheese.
Children use the seeds and cheese to work out math problems such as:
Hamtaro eats 5 pieces of food each day. What combinations could he eat?
The children use the cheese and seeds to find the number of family members: 5+0=5, 4+1=5, 2+3=5, 3+2=5 etc. and write them on a worksheet.
The worksheet could be a copy of the original sized Tic Tac Toe game but eliminate the cheese and seeds. Make space between the rows of hamsters and draw a line under each hamster for writing the number sentence.
The children would record their answers by drawing and coloring the number of seeds and cheese and then writing the number sentence below.
To extend the activity:
Turn the Recording Worksheet into a book.
Cut apart each hamster with it's number sentence.
Write sentences about the problem on the back of the previous number sentence. Male a cover with a title and author page and staple it together.
These little books are great hits for Silent Reading time and combine both math and Reading practice.

When reading the words on hamster cards:
1. Ask them to look for the names of each of the characters.
2. Discuss ways to organize the cards. (ABC order, Color, Characteristics)
After putting together the 6 in 1 puzzle:
1. Make up a story about the scene.
2. Can you make a story that includes all the scenes?

2. Write the names of each of the Hamhams on cards. Make 2 of each.
3. Laminate
the cards.These cards can be used to practice ABC Order.
Matching games such as Go Fish or Concentration are also great learning games.
Make a set of ABC hamster shaped cards with capital letters on one set and small letters on the other to practice matching. If you make additional small letter cards, especially vowels and consonants that are frequently doubled you could use them to spell words.

Hamhams learn Japanese

My 12 year old, who wrote most of this Hamtaro lens, has decided to learn Japanese. She loves Hamtaro and Japanese Aname and has now taken it to a new level. She listens to language tapes. Speaks to her family and friends as much as possible in Japanese and is now working on learning how to write in Japanese.

- Man, I love hamtaro even though everyone thinks Im too old for it, (even I think I am, but oh well >:D) I collected all those little figures, and so i have a separate bin for all of 'em. I WORSHIPPED the show when i was 5 or so, and i miss it tons. Its such a shame they canceled it. Bring it back, you meanie TV ppl! XD

- please let hamtaro have anouther chance its a great show my family thinks im to old for hamtaro just because im 14 but i dont care i did not know about hamtaro then so i feel bad and i really want to help them so please and dont lie like that any more becease August 8 just past and hamtaro not there i knew something did not feel right when i found out so please give hamtaro love and put his show back on

- none of my family was ever late when hamtaro was on the air because it was a reason to get up no matter how early it was.i was in preschool then and i got up at like 7 am. when i got up one morning it wasn't on i searched for hours for days, weeks, and months almost everyday and i want it to come back and only a couple of shows do that today but none of them make me laugh as hard as i did with hamtaro. - I love Hamtaro! When I was little I would watch the show all of the time. When they stopped showing it I was really sad T-T. Bring him back! There was nothing wrong with the show that made it something that shouldn't be on TV. If anything, replace the new shows nobody likes with Hamtaro!
