Handheld Power Tools
Not that long ago nearly all the tools available to us came with a long cable that always got itself twisted with any other cable within 10 meters. Then came along the battery powered portables. The development in battery technology enables the manufacturers to build powerful 36 volt batteries capable of powering large saws, drills etc.

Handheld Power Tools
Nearly everyone today has used or seen someone using a hand-held power tool - whether be a drill (used for drilling holes or as powered screwdriver), planer, saw sander or some other device. The first electric drill was invented and patented in the late 1800's and was a huge device for operation in coal mines. In the late 1800's few people had experienced mains electricity or batteries! Today we have seen the huge sales of the mains powered devices from the 1940's and then the mass introduction of battery powered power tools starting in the 1960's. Early introductions were 3.6v tools - small screwdrivers. Later came the 9.6v tools followed by the 12v tools. Unfortunately battery technology couldn't provide the oomph! or power needed combined with charging time at the right price to be practical. Today we now have much more technically advanced battery power and now have a variety of 18v tools, 24v and 36v tools all of which will last for a reasonable period of time before charging and when charging time arrives it's typically an hour or less. These developments mean we can provide power drills to tackle almost any job and powered circular saws and many other power hungry tools.Lithium ion batteries are the latest technology to be introduced and are now being introduced by several manufacturers.

What is a Manufacturer Reconditioned Power Tool?
Almost always a manufacturer reconditioned product is one which has been returned to a retailer and then returned directly to the manufacturer because it can not be sold as new. The retailer may just avoid this process if the packaging of the product was undamaged or unopened. Once the product is returned to the manufacturer the product will be fully tested to make sure that it meets the "as new" specification. If every item receives the tick mark the unit is re-packaged and is in as new condition. In practice the product is new but just done some additional travelling. The packaging maybe different because it's not coming from the huge production lines - for example it maybe taped up and have the word RECONDITIONERD on the side of the box. You may see factory outlet stock rather factory reconditioned from time to time.
.
Most of the major manufacturers supply reconditioned products but sometimes they will be restricted to a select number of retailers or dealers. Some retailers are specialist suppliers of factory reconditioned tools only. Some retailers handle both factory reconditioned and the 'normal' product line.
Whether you are looking for a Makita cordless drill, Milwaukee corded power drill, a Makita cordless drill, a Porter-Cable router, a Paslode nailer, a Bostitch stapler, a Bosch reciprocating saw, an 18v cordless drill or a product from another major manufacturer then just follow your nose and look out for the factory reconditioned tool suppliers.
