Creative Hand Made Totes and Purses
Beautiful bags have been the obsession of many a fashion conscience woman over the years. At present the trend is for bags which are individual or hand made. While the price tags for this type of bag is often beyond most people's budget, it is rewarding for me to have the skill and talent to create one-of-a-kind bags at an affordable price.
You can find the tote or purse you like at "Anna's Hats and Totes": http://www.annashatsandtotes.etsy.com and at http://annashomedecor.ecrater.com/
How it all started...
Later on I joined the quilters group in my small town to learn new designs. I was reluctant to buy new fabric and cut it into squares to make a quilt. I remember buying only for my learning sample piece and for a twin size quilt.
The ladies of the quilters group knew that I like to reuse fabric to make a quilt. One day there was a large white sack in front of my door, filled with fabric remnants of quilting, such as left over blocks or cut up pieces for projects that had never been finished. I was delighted, sorted everything, and thought of making small throw pillows. I actually made more than a couple and donated several to the local library for a program called Pajama Story Time. The librarian gave them to the kids to use while they were laying down to listen to the story.
I started selling pillows and some other items at a local Saturday market and at Christmas Bazaars. I did this for a few years, and then my husband helped me start a store on eBay (in 2003). I incorporated home décor items such as tapestry products (mainly decorative pillows at first) with my handmade pillow covers. Later I started making tote bags and some Victorian style hats, and expanded my tapestry line with unfinished panels and wallhangings..
Now, after several years in business, my focus is on various types of bags, including totes, purses, grocery bags, and shoulder/messenger bags besides my tapestry products. I love to search for that beautiful fabric to make my bags individual, and utilize remnants for some of my embelishments.
Cloth Grocery Bags verses Plastic Grocery Bags
These bags are reusable, washable and last a long time
According to the EPA, over 380 billion plastic bags, sacks and wraps are consumed in the U.S. each year.
Plastic bags don't biodegrade, they photodegrade-breaking down into smaller and smaller toxic bits contaminating soil and waterways and entering the food web when animals accidentally ingest.
Each high quality reusable shopping bag you use has the potential to eliminate hundreds, if not thousands, of plastic bags over its lifetime.
All of my high-quality, reusable bags will help you eliminate hundreds, if not thousands, of those plastic and paper shopping bags choking our planet. It's an easy way to do your part.
I make my bags with care one at a time. I design the bag according to the fabric and I cut it to make it ready to put together. I put the pieces together with double stitching, and take the time to iron the seams. The final product is a beautiful bag ready to use by my customers.
These bags are made from Cotton fabrics , they can be used and reused. They are eco friendly - better than plastic bags.
You can use this bag while doing your errands, going to the post office, buying a book or during your travels.
