Assisi Embroidery

Assisi is a form of counted-thread embroidery that originated in the town of Assisi in Italy. Worked traditionally it was made up of areas of long-armed cross stitch with the main area of the motif being voided. Traditional Assisi features stylised mythical animals and plant designs which are worked in red or blue thread on cream linen.
