Craft Challenged Gifts

Are you like me--I love handmade things and love being able to spend my time creating things for my friends and family. There is only one thing holding me back. I am definitely craft-challenged. I can't sew, cut, paste, or design anything! I have many other skills, but crafts are not among them!

But now I can help you! I have tried to collect a few crafts that even I can do. Read on to find easy Mother's Day gifts or anytime gifts that you, too, can make!

Craft Challenged Gifts: Candy Sundae

If I can do this, You can too!

Buy a ice cream Sundae glass. Purchase your favorite candy--about two bags. Buy Styrofoam balls to fit the top of the Candy Sundae Glass. Buy pins and a straw.
Fill the Sundae glass with the candy.
Cut the styrofoam ball in half. You only need to use half. Glue the ball to the glass using a hot glue gun.
Take one piece of candy and pin it to the ball. Keep pinning in a circle. Then, pin the next layer.
Repeat until the ball is completely hidden by the candy. One may glue the candy to the ball if you choose. Add the straw.

Handmade Gifts for the Craft Challenged

No Sew Scarf

Handmade Crafts No Sew ScarfCut 10 lengths of different color yarn, feathers, ribbons, eyelash yarn and beads of the same color palette. Put the different lengths of yarn around your neck to see if the length is right for you. Any number between 10-15 strands is about the average scarf.

Put the strands around your neck again. Tie one knot across from each other about 6 inches down from your neck. Measure down another 4-6 inches and tie knots across from each other at the end of the scarf.
Add embellishments. You can add different beads to the end of the scarf or anywhere in the middle. You do not have to add beads or strands of beads. Just add anything that you like.

You can whip up a beautiful creation just by putting several strands together and tying knots.
Find the yarn and ribbon on sale and this can be a frugal gift!

Easy Handmade Gifts: Fleece Blanket

Quick Easy Craft

Handmade GiftsI don't think keeping warm ever goes out of style. These fleece blankets were popular a few years ago--but to me this is a great gift!
I have made at least five fleece blankets.
Buy three yards of fleece in one color and three yards of fleece in another color. Make these colors complimentary or fun!
Get a rotary cutter and cut strips and tie them together. (you can cut these strips with scissors, but trust me the rotary cutter is so much easier and less painful.)
Just search on any search engine for how to make fleece blankets. You can make one in four-five hours. If I can do it, you can too!

You got me on this one; all my crafts are expensive and complicated (much to my dismay at times).

Just thought of something - maybe paint something on the sundae glass so that even after all the candies are gone, there is a memento of the day.

So easy yet so thoughtful. I like the candy sundae where you can put only the recipient's favourite candies. Mine are chocolate with rum centers. Would that work?

Hmmm. There are so many. I like easy crafts and I'm not craft-challenged. :) Recently I made Marshmallow Bunny Puppets by dipping peep bunnies 1/2 way with melted chocolate and sticking them onto a plastic spoon. Then covered the melted chocolate with jimmies. I put them in small plastic bags and tied with a bow. I initially made them for my granddaughter's class at school but only had exactly enough and someone came along and ate some so that was that. I did a craft by planting violas in teacups which is SO easy. Your lens was fun!

These are terrific ideas. I like to take photos, make a copy of a favorite, with plenty of white space left on the page. Then add a favorite recipe from that person and maybe add a little border with ribbon or something and poof, instant non-craft craft! :) Great lens. Congratulations on making the top Easter Crafts for 2012. Blessed.
