Talking about trolls...

A country often associated trolls, often before vikings or fjords, is Norway. But what a troll really is? Well, nobody knows for sure :) They are mythical, human-like creatures, usually very ugly and often dangerous, stupid and mischievous or even evil, living in or under Norwegian woods, in the wilderness.

Trolls are genetically inclined to have allergy to sunlight; anaphylactic shock after exposure to sunlight causes them to turn into stone. That easily explains why Norway is such a rocky country

They certainly are ugly little critters but made so very well. Each one seems to have a lot of character in it's creation. Interesting lens.

Norse Mythology explores the magical myths and legends of Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Iceland and Viking-Age Greenland--outlining along the way the prehistoric tales and beliefs from these regions that have remained embedded in the imagination of the world.
We meet Thor, one of the most powerful gods, who specializes in killing giants using a hammer made for him by dwarfs, not to mention myriad trolls, ogres, humans and strange animals. We learn of the ongoing struggle between the gods, who create the cosmos, and the jotnar, or giants, who aim to destroy it.

Gods, humans, and monstrous beasts engage in prodigious drinking bouts, contests of strength, greedy schemes for gold, and lusty encounters. The Norse pantheon includes Odin, the wisest and most fearsome of the gods; Thor, the thundering powerhouse; and the exquisite, magic-wielding Freyja.

This was released early last year but deserves ongoing mention for fans of fantasy in general and Norwegian folk stories in particular, offering a surprising narrowed focus on trolls and revising and expanding a previous title. Troll adventures appear in both stories and poems by Norwegian writers including such famous names as Henrik Ibsen.
