This is very very cute! Ive been struggling to find out how people make bangles with a transparent image inbedded inside it, sometimes it looks like a pen sketch inside the bangle but theres no background, its totally transparent, do you have any advice on how to do this?

Hi Ulrike, I haven't tried that before but I would imagine you could print or draw your images on transparency paper (like what is used for overhead projectors), then cut out your images and embed them in the resin when you are pouring.

I am so eager to try this. Thank you for breaking down all the steps.

I used mold release as the directions specified for my first casting project, and they're still REALLY difficult to get out. Any suggestions? I saw it said to put the mold in the freezer, but it is a brand new mold and I don't want to run the risk of breaking it on the first try.

A lot of times you have to flip a mold entirely inside-out to remove the item. I found that my plastic molds got damaged no matter what I did with mold release or putting them in the freezer. Since then I have switched to silicone molds, they work much better and they retain their shape.

Wow! Thank you for sharing your way of working and tell about it so clearly! I'm going to try it! How do the bubbles come out? (in your picture with green cup)
  • SpikeandLola Jun 18, 2011 @ 12:35 pm | delete
Many of the bubbles will come up to the surface and pop on their own as the resin cures. If there are a lot in your resin, you can blow on them through a drinking straw to force them to pop (carbon dioxide makes them pop). Just don't blow too hard or you'll end up with resin everywhere :-D
