Step 1. Clean The Ornaments
Clean The Surface Of The Clear Glass Ornament Balls
I just used a little window cleaner. I'm not sure how necessary this step is but it's good for removing hand oils as well as factory dust from the packaging materials.
Step 2. Paint The Roses
How To Paint The Roses On Your Victorian Christmas Tree Ornaments

An Extremely Simple Step by Step For Painting Roses On Your Christmas Ornaments
Here is an extremely simple step by step for painting roses on your ornaments. I really don't spend much time working on them and often paint one after another in quick succession. Of course you may wish to spend more time and effort than I, but here's the basics in creating a rose.
I painted my example on paper as I just couldn't get it to photograph well as an in-progress on the ornament. The total time spent painting this rose was about 1 minute.
To keep this simple you really only need two colors for painting your roses. Your primary color of choice which for the examples ornaments was a pink but I think a luscious red would be gorgeous. The other color you need is white. You use it to soften and create highlights on the red.
Step 1 For Painting The Rose For Your Christmas Tree Ornaments
How To Paint Roses On Your Handpainted Vicotrian Christmas Tree ornaments

Put in the mid-tone range color and create the basic rose shape.
I usually create this color by mizing the darker color such as red with my highlight color of white. Once again this is the simplest way to paint a rose. If you want something more realistic paint it as you might for a painting.
Step 2 For Painting Roses
How To Paint Roses On Your Handpainted Vicotrian Christmas Tree ornaments

Add int the darker shadow color. This means the darkest pigment of the color you've selected your rose to be. In this case red.
And yes it's kinda ugly at this stage.
Step 3. For Painting Roses
How To Paint Roses On Your Handpainted Vicotrian Christmas Tree ornaments

Add the highlights Which in this instance is white.
Yup still ugly.
Step 4. For Painting Roses

Finish and blend to add depth to your flower. Here's the part where you can fiddle around and make your rose as lifelike or simplas as you wish.
I'm a critter artist and not a painter at all so if I can pop out something vaguely resembling a rose with less than a minutes effort, so can you.

Paint Brush Selections
For Painting Your Christmas Tree Ornaments
If you've never painted before I'd advise getting a small assorment of paintbrushes for you to try out and experiemtn with. Also despite the fact that I am usually touting quality all the way, this is one of those instances where
there's no need for fancy or expensive paint brushes
Paint brushes can get really expensive and since we're not creating the Mona Lisa here, cheap and cheerful is the way to go.
Step 3. Create A Bow With Ribbon And Wire
For the Pink Victorian Christmas Tree Ornaments featured on this page a 1" Pink ribbon was used. After tying the bow it was secured in place with a little bit of jewelers wire and then hot glued into place. One again use a little crumpled newspaper to hold ornament securely while the glue is drying.

A Couple Of Ideas To Change Up This Idea And Make It Your Own
Fill Ornament With Something Sparkly And Fective
*Colored tinsel
*Colored Tissue Paper
*Potpourri
NOTE: Be sure to fill only with lightweight stuffs as anything to heavy will make the hanger pull free from the ornament.
Paint A White Rose On Your Ornament
* Use a plain colored Christmas Ornament Ball and paint White Roses On them
* Fill The Clear Ball with something like potpourri
