Handwriting Analysis using Graphology

What is Graphology?
Graphology, also known as Handwriting Analysis, is considered both an art and a science. It involves the study of handwriting with the aim of revealing the character and personality of the writer, including his or her strengths, weaknesses and abilities.

Did you know that your signature could reveal whether you are an extrovert or whether you have good will power, whether you are lazy or whether you are efficient and hard working. Read on and find out how...

Graphology Explained

How can handwriting tell so much?

As handwriting comes from the sub-conscious part of the mind, it contains a great deal of information, which can be useful for interpreting one's character. We may not realise it but the characteristics of our handwriting are actually coming from our sub-conscious mind.

When we write, we are under the influence of emotions that dictate our mood at the time of writing. The brain transmits its instruction via the Central Nervous Systems for the hand to carry out. This expression is a mixture of conscious thoughts and unconscious automatic responses.

Uses of Graphology

What is Graphology used for?

The technique of graphology is often used for recruitment, marriage compatibility, career guidance, child development and also for personal use. Graphology is evolving rapidly into an accurate science along with Graphotherapy.

Handwriting traits

How can you determine personality?

Each individual's handwriting is unique to them and so can reveal a lot about their nature and behavioural characteristics, such as aggression and manner. Handwriting reveals abilities, aptitudes and personality

Graphology derives its results from a variety of characteristics such as :

1. Handwriting Size
2. Pressure
3. Baselines
4. Utilization of Space on the Paper
5. Distance between Letters and Words
6. Slants : Left, Straight, Right
7. Zones : Upper, Middle, Lower
8. Letter formations

Each letter formation also indicates specific personality traits, which may be supplemented with other traits to determine a personality-type.

Sample Handwriting

How does one go about collecting samples?

In order to analyze a person's handwriting you need to have hand written samples, preferably on a blank unruled piece of paper. It always helps to have two pages of sample handwriting, but since it eats up ones patience, one page should suffice for the time being. Always have something written from memory, something that he/she likes, what he/she did that week and so on, instead of copying something from a book.

Warning: Reading this lens will not make you an expert on Graphology and it is not advisable to start projecting yourself as a Graphologist based on the knowledge you gain. You may, however, use this lens to have fun or impress someone (ahem-ahem).

Seems like our children these days are not even taught how to write long hand anymore.

Hey, great post. I just wonder how much still people use handwriting in these times of computers... When was it last time you people used a pen to write down something? :-)

Hey Retro_Loco, you sound like a really interesting person...I would love to analyze your handwriting. For a graphologist every handwriting is unique, none are good or bad (ofcourse, in school we were asked to write pretty or clean, but it doesn't matter here).

Really interesting! I would hate to see the results of my handwriting analysis. My penmanship is weird! Teachers complained about it, bosses hated it,

This is a great lens! I've been doing graphology since my undergrad studies and continued it through graduate school as a psychologist. People are always amazed at it. Great stuff! :)
