Hangover Prevention Tips
Preventive measures to save you from a hangover.
- Eat something. Carbohydrates help your body slowdown the process of alcohol absorption in your body. Sweet foods can help prevent a hangover. So to prevent a hangover, eat some food before and while drinking.
- Drink water. Since nausea and throwing up are among the results of hangover, drinking glasses of water helps your body from dehydration which usually happens with you are experiencing a hangover.
- Avoid cogeners. These are contained in alcoholic beverages that usually trigger hangover symptoms which is often found in dark alcohols. Instead of taking in very hard liquors, try those light drinks which are clear alcohols.
- Do not mix different types of alcoholic beverage. Try to drink just one kind of liquor. Giving your body a mixture of different alcoholto process can make it more difficult to your system to metabolize the alcohol.
- Know your limit. The more you know your body's capacity to take in alcoholic beverages, the more you can prevent hangover. What happens to you is your own responsibility. If you even think you may drink enough to give yourself a hangover you should get yourself some serious hangover prevention.

- Good stuff here. Really like the bit about not mixing different types of drinks. something that works for me is to rotate soft drink, alcoholic drink, soft drink, alcoholic drink. I choose to drink mixers when I know it's going to get messy, so there isn't even a difference in what your holding or what your drink looks like - reduces the bar bill too.

- If you drink...
Some folks do and some folks don't. If you do, there are a couple of nutritional supplements that will greatly reduce the damage alcohol can do to the body. Medical science has known of these supplements and their abilities to reduce harm from alcohol for years, yet these are never spoken of in any format available to the public that I have found.
Alcohol itself is not particularly harmful to the brain, body or liver... It is "acetaldehyde" produced by the metabolism of alcohol in the liver that causes the bulk of harm and injury, including hangovers. The secret to happy drinking is giving your body the tools it needs to get rid of acetaldehyde as quickly as possible as alcohol is metabolized in the liver.
Simple Lecithin is the best source of Choline, long known as the key to efficient alcohol metabolism and liver health. You need to take more than one or two gelcaps per day. At least three, and preferably four to six gelcaps taken with meals during the day, before you drink will give best results. Lecithin is the single most important supplement one can take... If you drink.
Vitamin B-Complex is the second supplement all who drink should take every day. Alcohol quickly burns through all B-vitamins in the body, and supplementing this can make a great difference in those who drink. Again, it is best to take this during the day, before you drink. Take two B-Complex per day, with lunch and dinner for best results.
N-Acetyl Cysteine or "NAC", available at most vitamin shops, some drug stores and online is the "secret ingredient" in most (expensive) hangover prevention pills. NAC does more than prevent hangovers; it helps to prevent liver damage! NAC is the precursor to glutathione, the bodies master antioxidant. It is glutathione that mops up excess acetaldehyde when the bodies normal enzyme, acetaldehyde dehydrogenase becomes overwhelmed by anything more than light drinking. NAC should be taken on an empty stomach, one hour before dinner for best results. Take two if you are going to be binge drinking.
NAC should always be taken with vitamin C... Vitamin C recycles spent glutathione and keeps it on the job. One gram (1000mg) with dinner should do the trick.
What you do not take can be as important as what you do take... Never mix alcohol with Tylenol (aka acetaminophen or paracetamol)! Tylenol metabolism "competitively inhibits" metabolism of acetaldehyde, and can turn what might have been a rough morning into a brutal all day hangover. It will also wreck your liver faster than about anything else you might do!
Cheers!
