Who Is Hanson?
Hanson is an American pop rock band formed in Tulsa, Oklahoma by brothers Isaac, Taylor, and Zac Hanson. They are best known for the 1997 hit song "MMMBop" from their major label debut album Middle of Nowhere that earned three Grammy nominations. Despite commercial success of Middle of Nowhere, the band departed from Mercury Records and then eventually Island Def Jam Music Group after conflict with the label. The band now records under its own label, 3CG Records.
I've been a Hanson fan since I first heard them in 1997. I've seen them in concert around 75 (I think) times and can't wait to see more shows. I could go on for days about Hanson, but I won't. I've got lots of memories stored away from all my Hanson travels and adventures. The picture is me with them (I'm the short one! haha!) in Salt Lake City in 2003. Hopefully I'll get the opportunity to get a new picture someday soon. For more information on Hanson please visit their official site at Hanson.net.

Hanson
I first became a fan of Hanson in 1997 when I heard MMMBop. I thought it was a catchy tune and my son who was 2 at the time used to sing along in his carseat. Needless to say he gets his great taste in music from me. Anyway, from there it went on with the Christmas cd and Live From Albertane.Everything really took off in 2000 when This Time Around was released and I had the brilliant idea to take a cross-country road trip to catch as many Hanson shows as I possibly could between my college semesters. It was pretty easy to convince my sister to come along with me; she's always up for a road trip.
She wasn't much of a fan at first, but it didn't take long for her to appreciate these guys for all that they are.
That 3-month period in 2000 was one of the most memorable times of our lives. We saw places we probably never would have seen, met some great people we most likely would have never met, and had some good times just being sisters.
The next few years after that, the guys pretty much disappeared due to record label issues and such, but I patiently waited because I had faith in them and knew they would pull through.
I've been a member of Hanson.net, their fanclub, since 2000 and during this time of "drought" they kept in touch with the fans and kept us updated on what was going on.
They really care about and appreciate their fans. They have a very loyal fanbase and are always coming up with ways to "reward" us so to speak and make each and every one of us feel special.
They have come out with several albums since then; released on their own label 3CG.
They're all grown up now; married and have kids.
They're still making music. Their music has grown with them.
I'm as big of a fan now as I was at the start, probably more so and I don't think I'll ever stop being a fan. Last count I think I have seen them in concert 75+ times. I'd have to go back and do some research to find out the exact number. I can't wait to see them again.
Hanson Rocks SxSW
This time was different. I saw the DirectTV Live performance - complete with a gospel tune acapella. It was amazing. I spoke to some young girls who said they had only come to hear MmmBop and were somewhat disappointed that they didn't sing it.
The show at La Zona Rosa totally rocked. I was there from the moment the doors opened - and steadily watched the crowd grow up until Hanson came on. They rocked, as usual, although I was disappointed by the 45 minute set. I guess I've gotten spoiled by the usual 2 1/2 hour shows that I usually see.
Overall, it was worth the 12 hour drive to Austin. I'd travel just about anywhere for these guys. They rock. :)

Tulsa pop star talks about blood clot awareness at Capitol
by Murray Evans, Associated Press Writer
A member of the Tulsa-based pop group Hanson said he feels a duty to share his "scary experience" with deep vein thrombosis while health officials in his home state work to promote awareness of the medical condition.Isaac Hanson joined legislators and health officials from the state and the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center for a presentation at the state Capitol. A resolution passed by the Legislature made Wednesday "DVT Day" in Oklahoma.
"I'm happy to put a face to the issue and allow people to become more aware of it and hopefully save some lives in the process," Hanson said.
Deep vein thrombosis, or DVT, is the abnormal clotting of the blood in one or more veins. Its complication, pulmonary embolism, or PE, occurs when a blood clot breaks free from its original site and travels through the heart into the lungs.
According to the Venous Disease Coalition, more than 100,000 Americans die each year after experiencing a pulmonary embolism. Many of those deaths are sudden, because the person has failed to recognize the condition's symptoms, said Gary Raskob, the dean of the OU College of Public Health.
"That's why prevention is critical," Raskob said.
Preventative measures include staying active, not smoking, maintaining a normal body weight, moving legs often and walking frequently if possible.
