Paris Festivals

Parisians love to party and there is usually a festival taking place in the city.

14 July is Bastille Day, the French National Holiday, but the parties begin on the 13th and nobody parties harder than the Parisians.

During December, Paris lights up with Christmas decorations and numerous Christmas Markets. Note that for the New Year celebrations 2011/12 there will not be a fireworks display at the Eiffel Tower but I believe that a laser light show is being organised.

And of course, fireworks!

Chinese New Year (French)
In 2010, Mardi Gras coincides with the Chinese New Year, which is the year of the tiger. Various parades and feasts are being organized throughout Paris. 14 February is of course, also St Valentine's Day, so restaurants in Paris can be expected to be pretty busy.
Veneration of the Crown of Thorns at Notre-Dame de Paris
The Crown of Thorns is presented to the believers for veneration on the first Friday of each month, every Friday during Lent at 3 pm, and on Good Friday from 10 am to 5 pm.
Paris Carnival
The Paris Carnival, Carnaval de Paris dit de Saint-Fargeau, Tuesday 14 February, 2010, is a popular event brining together local residents, street artists, visual artists and musicians. Equivalent to Paris Mardi Gras, the carnival procession is traditionally led by a cow and starts from Place Gambetta, ending on the square in front of the Hôtel de Ville.
