Things for Which I Appreciate My Mom
She's creative; I remember she used to make scavenger hunts with clues to find gifts on special days. She also wrote silly poems on cards.
She's funny; she signs Christmas gift tags form the Tooth Fairy, Micky Mouse, the Easter Bunny, etc. Since I didn't really like sweets (I sure outgrew that :) she put candles in a bowl of pickled herring (mmm... what?! I'm Polish) for a birthday cake. Don't get her going on all of the euphemisms for crazy - 1 sandwich short of a picnic, the light's on but nobody's home...
She did a great job instilling in me a compassion for others.
She's always been there for me in difficult times and sickness - I'm such a baby when I'm sick.
She supported me academically with guidance and goals.
She came to nearly all of my swim and gymnastics meets - no matter where they were.
She helped me become the mother I am today. I think we're both terrific mothers.
She's a loving grandmother.
My mom is a neverending song in my heart of comfort, happiness, and being. I may sometimes forget the words but I always remember the tune.
