Book a trip to Canada

Ranked #8,721 in Holidays & Celebrations, #149,055 overall

July 1st is Canada's Birthday and you're invited . . .

It used to be called Dominion Day, and was officially renamed Canada Day in 1982 - when Canada finally repatriated its constitution from the United Kingdom.

It is also known as Fête du Canada (to our French speaking population and my dear friend, Poutine).

If you want a taste of Canadian culture, look no further. In this lens you will find some of our greatest musicians, comedians, businesses and even our best coffee. I include features from my friends too.

Canada became an independent country in its own right on July 1st, 1867. In 1958, the Canadian government began Dominion Day celebrations which included ceremonies on Parliament Hill, a concert and fireworks.

What do we do now?

Have fireworks, parades, barbecues, concerts, carnivals, fairs and picnics. Oh and we take the day off and drink the beer, the best beer in the world, ahh, Canadian beer - ohh yeah!
