Testimonials
This is what other parents, teachers and kids have said.
The Kaleidoscopes Program gives very clear concise instructions with few extra resources needed. Very little preparation is needed which is imperative for busy teachers. Due to the success of the Kaleidoscopes Program, I intend using it again this year with a group of primary students.'

'Julie will be familiar to some of the students attending the Minds Alive - Mini School from her work with the very popular 'Kaleidoscopes' program. She is a talented educator who operates her business 'Beyond Purple' from the Sunshine Coast. Julie has honed her interest with colour to create a range of educational materials for people of all ages, enabling them to connect and tap into their inner strengths. During the mini school Julie will support the students to understand the various qualities of strength that they possess and provide them with the ability to acknowledge and utilise these effectively.'
'Kaleidoscopes provides learners in the middle phase with the opportunity to engage in a supported learning journey of 'self' discovery, to develop greater awareness and understanding of 'self' as a thinker and a learner. It connects 'like-minded' learners and strengthens the qualities of social and emotional resilience.'

'As part of my role as Special Education Advisor to fourteen schools in the Richmond Region of the Diocese of Lismore, I assist schools to resource their student welfare programs.
In January 2004 I was delighted to meet Julie Pretyman, the author of a well researched program which addresses the needs of many students with emotional difficulties. Julie has layered years of research onto her teaching background to develop a program which taps into the core of children's (and adult's) awareness of self and others. 'Kaleidoscopes' is a colourful, cleverly designed sequential program which can be worked through as a small group, individually or with a class. The program runs for fifteen weeks and all resources required to carry out the program have been personally designed by Julie.
We employed Julie to deliver some professional development to teachers in our schools in 2004. This was extremely well supported and three schools have gone on to purchase their own programs and run Kaleidoscopes with the students in their schools. Reports back from these students after doing the program have been very positive and all schools will be continuing to run Kaleidoscopes. Julie will be returning to our Diocese in May 2005 at the request of teachers to train more staff in running the program.
As schools struggle to address the myriad of emotional needs of the students in our schools, it is wonderful to have programs being developed by people like Julie Pretyman with Kaleidoscopes, to assist in providing structure and meaning for these students.'

I believe it is mainly a parents responsibilty, though teachers have a large part to play as well, I would feel much happier if I knew my kids teachers where emotionally healthy and knew how to help my kids be that way as well.
Do teachers have a responsibilty to emotionally educate our children.
