About Director George Miller & Happy Feet

Happy Feet and Happy Feet Two is an American-Australian computer-animated family musical, directed and co-written by George Miller. Born in 1945, George Miller is an Australian film director, screenwriter, producer, but was originally trained as a medical doctor.

It was during his residency at Sydney's St Vincent's Hospital, he spent his time-off crewing on short films, and was where he met student film producer Byron Kenndy, after which the duo worked on numerous films together including the Mad Max movies starring Mel Gibson.

George Miller is best known for writing and directing The Mad Max series but has also worked on numerous films including The Witches of Eastwick, starring Jack Nicholson, Susan Sarandon, Cher and Michelle Pfeiffer, Co-wrote Lorenzo's Oil with Nick Enright and more recently he wrote & directed The Babe movies, Babe and Babe: pig in the city.

Miller won two Oscars for Babe, for Best Picture and Best Screenplay. Later he would go on to also win an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature as well as a BFTA for Happy Feet in 2007.

Happy Feet was said to be partially inspired by documentaries such as the BBC's Life in the Freezer. It was produced at Sydney-based visual effects and animation studio Animal Logic for Warner Bros and used motion capture technology to create the tap-dancing sequences.

Happy Feet stared Elijah Wood, Brittany Murphy, Hugh Jackman, Nicole Kidman, Hugo Weaving as Robin Williams and Steve Irwin. The film was also dedicated to Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin.

Nice lens! I saw the first Happy Feet film at the start of 2007 and I really enjoyed it, so I look forward to seeing the second one. In fact I didn't even realise they've made a sequel until I read this lens!
