Are your little angels driving you nuts?
The problem isn't the child. The problem isn't you. It's a combination of work related stress, too little time with the kiddos and too many fires to put out.
The answer?
Quality time and not quantity time.
Make the time you do have with them count. Make it happy and relaxed.
A older college classmate had five children ranging in age 6 to 15. She worked and went to college. Whew!
How did she do it?
She spent one hour a day, usually after supper with a child. Each child had their night with Mom. For one hour she was all theirs. It was their time. They could say anything they wanted. Cry, gripe, play, whatever.
The younger children played, the older children talked.
They also had family night when they all went out, usually to a movie or to eat or both.
The point was they knew they had that time coming with Mom and they knew it was "safe" time because they could tell her anything and they wouldn't "get into trouble".

This is just a small sample of computer software to enable you & your child to spend quality time while teaching them colors, numbers, and eye & hand coordination.

Kids can experiment with happy, kid-size graphics tools to create personalized works of art. Because it's easy for children to make very attractive pictures with Creative Painter, it encourages them to experiment and exercise their creativity.
Unlike static coloring-book software, Creative Painter lets kids work with colorful background pictures and engaging cartoon characters.
Children can add animated pictures to their paintings, from barking dogs and swaying flowers to swimming fish and flying butterflies. Choose from more than 20 drawing tools, including a paintbrush, pencil, marker pen, crayon, spray paint, and chalk. It's easy for kids to select a tool, adjust its width, and pick its color. The library of 50+ special background pictures provides the starting point, and there is no end to the colors, shapes, textures, and gradients that they can add, including magic patterns not found in other software, or in real life.
Creative Painter lets kids add text to their drawings, in an unlimited variety of styles, sizes, and colors. Kids can experiment with embossing, relief, and other special effects. The program even supports popular drawing devices such as the Wacom tablet.

ABC Animals (age 4+)

Card matching memory game for children (age 4+). Match up pairs of beautiful animal pictures! It's really easy to play. Just click on the cards to flip them over and try to find the pairs. Your main goal is to find the legendary unicorn as fast as you can. In this way you can earn bonus points. Rate yourself on the High Scores table! The game also helps to learn the letters of the ABC while playing. Ideal preschool or first former educational game for kids - with children's friendly interface and cutting edge graphics. Have fun!
Bird Watch

This birdwatching game pits you with a camera. Your goal is to take pictures of birds as they fly across the screen. Each of the birds moves at a different speed. With your camera viewfinder you try to center the birds and click the mouse button, taking their picture.
You are awarded points based on how well centered the bird is in the picture. Since different birds move at different speeds, the points you awarded also differs for each bird.
There is also a bonus that you can achieve by photographing the bonus bird shown at the bottom of the screen. The only thing to keep you from scoring a million points is that you have a limited number of photos. If you happen to photograph the Zeppelin, you will get all of your photos back so you can continue. There is also a time limitation, but it can be replenished like the photo limitation in the full version.
This is a perfect game for little ones. It is totally devoid of violence, presents fun and interesting graphics, and takes a good bit of skill to master.

This is my little sweetie: "Jade Burger", after she grabbed the box of cornstarch from a near by shelf. (Cornstarch is the best "powder" for babies bottoms, especially if they have a diaper rash.)

Great ideas for parents. I am not one myself, so I cannot actually relate in that way. However, my childhood was miserable and my parents were often miserable with little to no time or lack of interest to spend any "quality time" with me. I think it really scarred me in some ways snce I still think about it from time to time. I left home at the age of 16 and have been on my own since, so I agree that if parents would just make a little EFFORT to SHOW their children that they really care and are interested in spending some time with them, it would go a long way toward having a healthy and loving relationship with them. Fantastic lens.

I love that example of setting aside one hour a day for each child. That's awesome. I homeschool my child so we spend all day every day together but I know he would love a block of time where I would be all his to do whatever he wanted. I think I'll try it starting tonight.
