The Hardest PS3 Trophy Games
The hardest trophy games are more for people who thrive on a challenge, or simply the people who cannot afford to buy every single trophy game out there. The harder of the trophy games offer longer game play and in some situations will take over the 200 hour mark to bag the Platinum trophy.
This article only lists the games with Platinum trophies, so all the people out there that shout that PAIN is the hardest trophy game, they could well be right but as it does not have a Platinum trophy it only gets an honourable mention in the introduction and quite honestly I think that Ancient Mahjong Tales is a harder non-platinum game than PAIN.
I would also like to take this opportunity to say that Burnout Paradise would have been one of the hardest (or should I say more time consuming) trophy games if they had copied the XBox360 Achievements instead of releasing the half-arsed pathetically easily trophy patch that we PS3 users had dumped on us.

Far Cry 2 is a first person shooter set in a huge open ended world. The attention to detail in this game is amazing. You can be driving along and pass a zebra (you can also run them down) while driving to your next mission. Your guns will get rusty and jam up if you don't change them often enough.
This game in my opinion is the hardest trophy game I have played yet, some of that reason though is down to bugs in the game that can stop you getting trophies (I know I lost at least 1 trophy I should have had). The single player campaign should keep you occupied for at least 50 hours (providing you do all the side missions too) and depending on how good you are at these type of games online the online trophies should keep you occupied for another 100 hours.
Far Cry 2 also comes with its own map editor for online play and providing you put some work into the map that should eat away quite a few hours too.
Grand Theft Auto IV

Grand Theft Auto IV has a few easy trophies but it also has a good share of hard ones. At a guess I would say to bag the Platinum it should take an average gamer well over the 150 hour mark which gives this game incredible value for money if you were to attempt to bag the Platinum.
The thing I like about GTA IV is the open world system where you can do what you want and has plenty of side missions to keep you happy. You can also spend hours just exploring and checking out the sights.
One tip I can give you if you are trying for Platinum is on the missions where it gives you the choice to spare someones life, DON'T kill them. I killed one of them and lost the No More Strangers trophy even though it is not supposed to effect them.

Mirror's Edge is a first person action adventure where you play the part of a runner. The game doesn't look that good until you start playing it and doing what looks like impossible jumps.
The best way to explain this game is to say - there is a demo on the PSN (Playstation Network) so download it and give it a try. The game goes from looking bland to being a good laugh.
From what I hear the time trial trophies are the ones that will have you yanking your hair out by the roots, but with perseverance they are possible.

MotorStorm: Pacific Rift is the long awaited sequel to the original MotorStorm and comes with better gameplay, more alternative routes and even more. They have also upped the difficulty to keep people coming back for more. But added difficult also means difficult trophies, so don't expect to sit down and bag them all in one go like you can with Burnout. Since I have brought up Burnout as a comparison well the people who moaned about having to buy a PS3 eye just to get a trophy will have to starting moaning some more because on MotorStorm: Pacific Rift you will need FOUR controllers to get one of the trophies.

Resistance 2 is an alternate history, first person shooter that takes up right where Resistance: Fall of Man left off and is the biggest online game yet with up to 60 players in a squad-based online competitive multiplayer battle fest.
This game is definitely one of the best FPS out there albeit the offline mode is fairly short. The game encourages you to play all the modes, not just with the trophies but with the in-game leveling and medal system.
This game will take a fair time to get platinum and thankfully the trophies are a lot easier than the in-game medal's which will keep you playing even longer if you want to achieve them all.

Warhawk is one of the only PS3 games that I know of that is online only. This game can now be bought from the PSN where you will also find a trailer for it, but for me I would rather buy it on disc (which is the reason I haven't got it, because of the rarity of getting it on disc and I'm not paying more for the disc than the PSN is charging for it. This game is also supposed to be rock hard to get the platinum trophy.

- Acing Batman Arkham Asylum was a huge wash of relief for me. Not only did I complete it all after 2 weeks, but it offered me my first Gold and Platinum trophy. I know that Bioshock and Little Big Planet do offer a fair assortment of Gold Trophies to get, but Bioshock is the more difficult since you need to play the game without dying on the two hardest difficulties to get said trophies. With Little Big Planet, all you need to do is make a damn good level and have people heart it; and 100% the story mode.

- killzone 2 trophies are not relly hard i got 67% before the update that got new trophies and i think the hardest trophies are for SOCOM i dont have any trophies for it.
