On the case with Frank and Joe ...
The Hardy Boys mystries books were the first set of books I remember reading in 3rd grade. They were may favorite books because of the mysteries and the brothers. I certainly enjoyed tons of other books as a kid including, the Bobsie Twins, and when I got older, Harry Potter Books were great to read. My kids enjoy reading Bailey School Kids Books, which is another mystery series geared around monsters and teachers.
Frank and Joe Hardy hit the scene in 1927, a few years before Nancy Drew, and have often been paired with Nancy in books and television. Like Nancy Drew, the Hardy boys books were written by various writers, all under the name Franklin W. Dixon. They still sell more than a million copies a year (wow!)

While the Nancy Drew series for younger kids has been quite the hit, Frank and Joe didn't fare quite so well. The series started in 1997 but was canceled in 2000 for lack of popularity. Poor boys. So they're hard to find these days, but based on the prices I've seen, pretty popular now. One new one has an asking price of more than $1,000!!

My nephews love these
Several changes afoot in this new series. First, Frank and Joe have joined an agency of teen crime fighters. The cases are more violent and dangerous than originally, which could be good and bad. Most recent books in the series are being issued in triologies, so you have an arc of three books telling one story. Not quite sure what I think about that, but my nephew absolutely adores these books.
