The harmonica is a simple, yet versatile instrument that is a great beginning musician instrument. I remember being 5 and my father giving me a harmonica he had purchased on a business trip. Now, 37 years later, I still have that harmonica! Now I have my 3 year old learning the "ins and outs" of playing the harmonica.

Notation for Tab With The Harmonica
Depending on your harmonica, the notation used for harmonica tab will vary slightly. There are many different Tab notation systems for the harmonica, below are some great simple ones to use.
If your harmonica is diatonic:
2= blow the 2 hole ( Also: +2 )
-2= draw the 2 hole
-2'= draw the 2 hole with a half bend ( Also -2b )
-2"= draw the 2 hole with a full bend ( Also -2bb)
Chords are shown by grouping notes with parentheses. (2 3) = blow the 2 hole and the 3 hole at the same time
If your harmonica is chromatic:
2 = blow the 2 hole
-2 = draw the 2 hole
<2 = blow the 2 hole with the button in
<-2 = draw the 2 hole with the button in
