Amazon Price: $5.75 (as of 06/01/2012)![]()
This book discusses the fascinating story of a secret communication system that was used by escaping slaves. Signs, maps and symbols for safety were stitched into their quilts. When escaping slaves needed directions on their journey to freedom, they would simply look for one of those quilts that would help guide them through hostile territories.
It's a fascinating study in creative communication, the tenacity of the human spirit, and the courage of people who were determined to live out their lives in their God given freedom. It's an amazing story, and I highly recommend this book!

- *Loved* this lens. I read Cobblestone as a kid. The subscription was a gift from my grandfather, who was a history buff, and every time an issue arrived I'd try to get to it before my sister did. I'm glad to know it's still around!
