The Harry Potter Series Comes to an End with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Book 7 - Write Your Own Ending and Share it With the World

The last book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Book 7, in the fabulous Harry Potter series has been on store shelves since midnight Saturday, July 21, 2007. J.K. Rowling has had a way of captivating us, entertaining us, and surprising us with each of the previous 6 books.

The Harry Potter series has already sold over 325 million books and spun off movies, video games, apparel and other merchandise. This book set a record and sold 8.3 million copies in the US alone on its first day. If you haven't got yours, you can order it below. If you haven't read any of the books, you can order the entire set here too.

On a personal note - My then 13 year old son didn't like to read much when the first Harry Potter book, Harry Potter & the Sorcerer's Stone, came out in 2001. I used to make him read 20 minutes every day. He would set a kitchen timer and when that bell dinged he would slam the book closed. I used to ask him how he could shut the book in the middle of a sentence or paragraph. He didn't care. Well, he read and re-read that first book until the next one came out. He re-reads all the previous books when a new one is coming out. He read the first 5 in one weekend before #6 came out! He is now a 19 year old college student and is an avid reader of many types of books. His bedroom light is often on late at night or all night if he falls asleep reading. He credits Harry Potter for his love of reading now and so do I. Thank you J.K. Rowling and Harry Potter for this gift to him!

How Will the Series End?

I want to know how you think the series WILL end or how you would LIKE the series to end.

Who will die? Main characters?

Who will cause their death? On purpose or accident?

Will Harry finally kill Lord Voldemort?

Write your own ending and share it with the world!

Muggle Predictions

These muggles have already made predictions - make yours now!

To give you some ideas and help you get started I've included the following predictions as they were found in the July 13-15, 2007 edition of USA Weekend that comes in many Sunday newpapers.

Emerson Spartz's Prediction

"There's no chance Harry will die, and it's very unlikely that Hermione, Ron or Ginny will, either. I'd like to see the book climax in an epic "Lord of the Rings"-style battle between good and evil. On one side would be all the creatures from the dark side: giants, werewolves, vampires, plus all of Voldemort's Death Eaters. On the other would be all the members of the Order of the Phoenix, Ministry of Magic employees, house elves and the U.S. military, with all its nuclear ballistic missiles. How awesome would that be?"

EMERSON SPARTZ - As a home-schooled 12-year-old, Spartz taught himself basic HTML computer language and in 1999 founded Mugglenet.com, one of the first and largest Harry Potter fan websites.

Marysia Kay's Prediction

"I have absolutely no firm idea of where Rowling is going to take things. She might do something drastic. Perhaps Harry will kill Voldemort, and at least one other major character will die, maybe more. I don't think she'd kill Harry, but she might do something debilitating to him, such as removing his magical abilities or his memory. I certainly don't want Harry to die, and I hope none of the other major characters do, either -- with the possible exception of Hagrid, who quite annoys me."

MARYSIA KAY - A London-based actress who has appeared in films including "Demonic" and "Messages," Kay also practices Gardnerian Wicca, often called British Traditional Witchcraft in the United States.

Susan Aikens' Prediction

"Good will prevail, and Harry will overcome Voldemort, but he won't be able to do it without help. In the ultimate act of redemption, Snape will sacrifice himself so that Harry can defeat Voldemort. All the questions and doubts will be summed up in the final chapters, but it won't be a pat "happy ending." Instead, the ending probably will convey the ambivalence and sadness that Ms. Rowling must feel in saying goodbye to characters who have meant more to her than they ever could to her readers."

SUSAN AIKENS - A buyer of children's material for Borders, Aikens attends all midnight release parties for the Potter books, and she likes to show up on opening day for each Potter film. She has read every book in the series at least twice.

Adam Roberge's Prediction

"Harry will live, but Voldemort is going to go down for all the murders he has done before, and I bet that Harry kills him with magic. Some Death Eaters will probably die, too, while Harry, Ron, Draco Malfoy, Hagrid and the rest will all survive. In fact, I think there's a good chance Harry might marry Ginny Weasley, and Hermione will marry Ron Weasley -- maybe there'll be a double-ring ceremony. This book will end the years at Hogwarts."

ADAM ROBERGE - The co-captain of a Walking Wizards fundraising team, 13-year-old Roberge is helping to publish a National Braille Press edition of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows". Blind since birth, the New Hampshire-based student has enjoyed the audio version of every book in the Harry Potter series.

Write Your Own Ending

Tell us what you think will happen or what you would like to see happen in the last book.

NO SPOILERS please. And G-rated answers only.

I am very impressed with some of the predictions that have been left here. Most are plausible and it makes me anxious to get the book away from my kids so I can read it myself! I used to read the same book with them after they went to bed, but with them being a little older combined with no school for summer, they stay up later than I do reading this book.

Now that the book is out, please don't spoil the ending for others. If you haven't finished the book and still want to predict your ending, feel free!

I would have Harry trap Bellatrix and have Voldemort retrieve her, only to kill Voldemort when his back was turned. Then the Death Eaters come try to rescue Bella, but then Hogwarts kill all of them except The Malfoys. :) It's a really wierd ending, but it would be cool. OH! And Harry gets on his firebolt and shoots fireworks in the sky, and shout, "NO MORE VOLDY!" ;) Harry Potter needs a humour side to death.

Harry Potter, headmaster -- What a great idea! Thanks for the sharing about your son. I've heard so many stories like that. Has he found Pullman's Golden Compass (before the movie ruins it) or Cooper's Dark is Rising? ..Thanks for the lens..
