Here are some samples and links to some of the best Harry Potter Fan-Art.
This sketch of a young Harry Potter, based on Daniel Radcliffe, was made by Lisa.

Update: Near the bottom I've added a link to my new lens about JKRowling.
Room to Read Fundraiser
World change starts with educated children
This lens is a proud member of the Room to Read - Harry Potter fundraising group. A purchase made from any of the participating lenses helps raise money to build schools and libraries in developing countries. Our goal is to raise $10,000 for Room to Read.
Ayne's Harry Potter Gallery
Ayne's Harry Potter Gallery is a magical site in English or Spanish created by Liz, also known as Ayne Greensleeves.Liz is an illustrator in Spain. Her artwork includes Colour and B&W illustrations with an obvious influence of anime as this picture of Neville shows.
The site also includes a Guest Gallery with links to some of the other artists' sites.
Liz also has a lot of non-Harry Potter artwork at Ayne's Works
Art Dungeon
Art Dungeon features art drawn by Marta, a professional artist and self-described Potterholic. Her art includes watercolours and charcoal sketches. Although she has drawn scenes from all six books, most of her art is from The Order of the Phoenix and The Half-Blood Prince.
She even has drawing tips for artists at the bottom of her FAQs page.
LisArt
Lisa Rourke draws vivid sketches of various subjects, including Harry Potter, at Deviant Art.The main page has featured artwork, her journal entries and comments from readers. Her main gallery is here. The Harry Potter art starts at the bottom of the first page and is continued through pages two and three.
This is a sketch of Ginny Weasley in her school uniform.
Tealin's Harry Potter Headquarters
At first glance Tealin's Harry Potter Headquarters looks like an older site with the occasional dead link and spoiler warnings such as: "If you haven't read the third book, don't come here!"Explore a little and you will find Pottery Art which includes Tealin's Disneyesque art organized by books OR by character. There is also the essay Harry Potter vs. Wicca which shows why Jo Rowling's books have very little in common with Wiccan beliefs. Tealin also has advice on how to become a sketch artist at How to Draw.
The site has many other thoughtful and funny pages and is well worth a visit.
Whirlwood Magic Wands
While at Lumos 2006, I compared wands being sold by three different vendors. The best wands were being sold by Gary Hall at Whirlwood Magic Wands. Gary personally makes every wand by hand and has 35 years of experience as an artist. Every wand I looked at was a beautiful work of art.
Moreover, it was clear that Gary is an artist, trying to sell his hand made wands, rather than an entrepreneur trying to make a sale.
Note: I do not have any financial incentive for recommending Whirlwood wands, nor did I buy one . . . my niece is custom making one for me! Now if I could only convince her to get her own web site. . .
Computer Art by Hamed
While looking through the fanart at MuggleNet, I discovered this computer-generated 3d image of The Cave by Hamed. Right now he has one other image, The Horcrux, at 3DLinks.3DLinks has a lot of other computer-generated art. Themes include Sci-Fi, Nature, Architecture, Fantasy, etc.
Note: The files are large and can take time to download.
Matchstick Marvels
Patrick Acton uses wooden matchsticks to create detailed works of art "unmatched by other skilled woodworkers."His works include the Space Shuttle Challenger, the United States Capitol and, most importantly, Hogwarts.
Matchstickmarvels.com has a list of works, photos and directions to the Matchstick Marvels Museum in Gladbrook, Iowa.
Draw Your Own Hedwig
Jonni Good has created a tutorial showing you how to draw your own Hedwig. It is so easy to follow I made my own sketch. (Which will NOT be published online.)He also shows how to draw Dragons, Unicorns, cats and many other animals at DrawFluffy.com.
Don't miss out on the Create-a-Critter Game. In it you pick different body parts of different animals and the computer creates a drawing of what the animal might look like. Great for kids. (I, of course, did not spend 30 minutes testing all of the possibilities!)
There is also a page of online art resources and one with recommended books.
Multiple Artists
- Artistic Alley
- Is a forum where artists post and discuss their art. At first glance the size of ArtisticAlley is a bit overwhelming. (There are at least 16,868 works of art!) But the threads are divided into different characters, scenes and mediums. There is also a section sorted by artist.
- Phoenix Song.net
- Finally, a site that is easy to browse and includes thumbnails of artwork. (I spoke to soon. The artists are listed without samples.) Includes a lot of fanfiction artwork.
- The Enchanted Paintbrush
- Get advice on your own Harry Potter art or check out other artists' work.
What would you like to see?
Did I include your favorite artist? Should I put more samples of the current artists?
Tell me what you would like to see and I will make it happen. . .
Well, I'll do what I can.
