Harry Potter Theme Park | Universal Studios Builds New Park with Harry Potter Theme

It's been rumored that Universal Studios will spend as much as $265 millions dollars building the new Harry Potter theme park. This information comes from a recent Securities & Exchange Commission filing.

Universal Orlando Resort officials announced its plans for "The Wizarding World of Harry Potter" earlier this week. The new theme park will be located at Universal's islands of Adventure.

Although the actual investment is rumored to be in the neighborhood of $265 million dollars, it has also been said that this amount also includes an attraction based on the "The Simpsons" television show. The actual amount being spent on the Harry Potter theme park was not released.

Both projects should be completed by the summer of 2010. Universal park officials are anticipating the projects to be finished before the summer of 2010. It's been rumored that the Harry Potter theme park will be open by late 2009.

The creator of Harry Potter and world's first billion dollar author,J.K. Rowling, has given her permission for the creation of a theme park at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida based on the wildy successful books and movies about the boy wizard. The Harry Potter theme park will be a combined effort between Warner Bros Entertainment and Universal Orlando Resort. Harry Potter fans will get to experience the village of Hogsmeade in all it's magical glory when Universal's Islands of Adventure opens "The Wizarding World of Harry Potter."

The designers and builders of the new Harry Potter theme park said they are planning to create the world's first immersive environment based around J.K. Rowling's books. The CEO of Warner Bros. entertainment, Barry Meyer, stated that they have received thousands of letters from Harry Potter fans around the world saying that they wanted to visit the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. They also expressed desire to visit other fabulous locations described in J.K. Rowling's stories of Harry Potter.

The opening of a Harry Potter theme park could help dispell some of the withdrawal symptoms that fans will experience after the release of the 7th and final book this summer. "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows" is the final installment of the Harry Potter saga. Pottermania could peak to all new heights in 2007 with the final book as well as another movie to be released within weeks of each other.

It's rumored that J.K. Rowling herself will give a moonlight reading of the final book to a few lucky fans in Britan at London's Natural History Museum. The official world premiere of the 5th movie, "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix", is scheduled for July 3, 2007 in London.

Rowling has said two characters will die in the final book but she has refused to give hints about who they might be. Speculation about which characters might die are running rampant, but Rowling's books are always released under the tightest security so fans will just have to wait.

With a new Harry Potter book, another movie and the Harry Potter theme park hot on their heels, no wonder they call it Pottermania.

Apparently the rumors that there was to be a "Harry Potter Land" at Disney World are unfounded and untrue. Negotiations collapsed for plans to build a Harry Potter theme park that would rival the one currently under construction at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida.

Construction for "The Wizarding World of Harry Potter" is currently in full swing at the Universal Orlando Resort. The projected completion date is the summer of 2010, but it's anticipated to be open sooner. Officials are hopeful to open the new theme park in late 2009.

Ideas from the children were varied. One little girl expressed interest in a Harry Potter rollercoaster. Another child thought an interactive broomm ride would be awesome. There were still other ideas such as broom races, or the recreation of ride that Harry and Ron took in the enchanted Ford Anglia. Some really adventurous kids wanted to do a vitural reality battle with Lord Voldemort. There were even suggestions for suveniors such as Hermione's wand.

According to Mark Woodbury, the 20 acre theme park that is to be named "The Wizarding World of Harry Potter will be a recreation of the Hogsmeade village, Hogwarts Castle and the Forbidden Forest. Both the author of the Harry Potter book, J. K. Rowling, as well as the production designer for the film sets of the Harry Potter movies have had a hand in the design plans for the park. Universal Studios are looking to make the theme park very authentic so as not to disappoint fans of the movies and books.

It appears that a news station in Orlando, Florida recently reported that Universal Studios insiders have leaked news of the centerpiece ride in the upcoming new theme park, "The Wizarding World of Harry Potter." Insiders have said thet the main attraction for the Harry Potter theme park will be a ride in Ron Weasly's enchanted Ford Anglia.

The actual name of the ride has yet to be announced, although speculation is high. Universal Orlando Resort informants have also hinted that current rides such as the "Dueling Dragons" and "Flying Unicorn" rollercoaster could get an overhaul to become part of the new Harry Potter theme park.

Apparently there are those folks who feel that the new Harry Potter theme park is just more bad exploitation. They feel that Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida is keeping with the business practices of milking one thing until it's absolutely dry.

Those cynics are not thinking about how children everywhere will feel once the last book is released and the last movie is over. The magic still lives on in their minds. Universal Orlando Resort is creating a place to go where they can experience that magic again and again.

There is much speculation concerning the types of rides that will be available at the new Harry Potter theme park set to open at universal Studios in 2009.

Two of the questions I hear most are, "Can we play quidditch?" and, "Will Hogwarts be a hotel where we can spend the night?" A real quidditch game would be quite a feat if the engineers could pull that one off! While I'm thinking a quidditch game might not be in the plans, a Hogwarts Hotel would be very plausible.

Will they give us a Universal Studios Hogwats Hotel? Only time will give us that answer as all plans for the Harry Potter theme park are being kept hush hush.

I know that I would absolutely love to spend the night at Hogwarts although talking pictures and moving staircases would require some work on the part of the construction crew. The staff could dress up like the house ghosts and school professors. They could appoint someone to annoy the guests like Peeves. A Universal Studios Hogwarts Hotel sounds like an excellent idea. I hope the Universal Studios planning commission is listening!

The Orlando Sentinel has a new window for the opening date of the Harry Potter theme park at Orlando's Universal Studios. The date for the opening has been narrowed down to somewhere between December 15, 2009 and June 30, 2010.

That's still quite a large window of time, but when building in Florida, the weather must be accounted for and there can be delays. So, cross your fingers and toes in hopes of a Harry Potter Christmas in Orlando in December 2009!
