2 Authors, 2 Bestselling Book Series, 2 Movies Awaiting Release...
My curiosity for this debate was inspired by a family gathering where there was a lot of discussion about sparkling vampires among the obsessed fans of the Twilight Saga. Soon a debate was sparked between the Harry Potter fans in the group and the Twilighters. Everyone had an opinion, even those who had not read either of the book series.
J.K. Rowling has become one of the richest women in Britian, a multi-millionaire in just five years. Will Stephenie Meyer have equal success with her writing? I do know that every teenage girl I know is obsessed with the Twilight books. Some have even lost interest in human boys completely, hoping they'll meet a nice, handsome, and slightly dangerous vampire in Biology class and be dazzled by his charming crooked smile and golden eyes.

Twilight is good...read from 1-4 and as a teenager i admit I was all giddy thinking of the possibilities of having a vamp boyfriend. But come on..to compare it with Harry Potter? First, although both are sci-fi they are of different genres...twilight screams romance all over. Second, Harry Potter is way better written than Twilight, Meyer used too many adjectives in the book, she keeps on mentioning how white Edward's teeth were (I get it I get...he got prfect white teeth) And HP's plot has more substance
Twilight would have been better without Bella (i'm serious) She's a pathetic character that should have never been a main character in any literary piece.

If You ask me, I prefer Harry Potter over Twilight. I've read both books and what they could offer and truthfully both are best at their respective genres however Harry Potter has a more engaging and better plot, well developed characters, more twists and turns that shocks, captures more of my imagination, and is an original fantasy world out from nowhere that caught my interests and lots of moral lessons. Twilight is stonger in expressing the feelings because of a viewpoint perspective and makes a very good lovestory and also grounded in reality except the vampire-werewolf part of course.

Harry Potter is actually well-written, unlike Twilight. HP has developed characters and JK Rowling doesn't feel the need to write in purple prose nonstop. Twilight is basically 300 pages of Bella gushing about how perfect Edward is (despite the reader never getting a glimpse into his personality, we are nonetheless assured he is perfect) with a lame "plot" tacked onto the end. Harry Potter is better in every possible way.

Twilight has a bunch of shallow characters who are all incredibly annoying, sentimental, and stupid (the reason Edward can't read Bella's mind is that it does not exist. You can't read a book with blank pages, after all). And the whole plot line (if there actually was one; I couldn't tell) was a collection of cliched gag-inducing mush. It's insulting that Harry Potter is even compared to that garbage: Harry Potter is a work of literature that showcases the author's extreme intelligence and imagination. Twilight is Stephenie Meyer's pathetic fantasy is prose-- probably the result of a mid-life crisis.
