Harry Potter Wand

I don't want to write a "spoiler" about Harry Potter's magic wand. Be forewarned this may spoil it for you if you have not read ahead in the series. I am anticipating the final movie to be a very huge blockbuster. Although there are rumors flying that more books are in the works, I can not confirm or deny these rumors...

Harry Potter Deathly Hallows

I have been reading Harry Potter books since they first came out. The writing style of J.K. Rowlings is truly something special. The way that she made all of these things come together makes this a classic of the ages. When I picked up the first one, on a rainy afternoon at my parents home long ago, I did not put it down until I had finished it. Took me all afternoon and late into the evening.

Now that the last book is out, I have read a few rumors that she may be doing something similar, such as maybe star wars, going back to the beginning so to speak. If she does write it or publish it, I will be right there ready to get it.

The importance of Harry's wand and the impact it has on his life. Voldemort's wand is the sister to Harry's. You could even say vice versa, as part of Voldemort is stuck in Harry as a Horcrux. As the books progress he really questions himself, mostly unsure about who he really is. Tired of the fame and not wanting anything more then to study and be himself.

Every great wizard has a great wand....

Albus DumbledoreHarry Potter's final book reveals that after Dumbledore's death the real owner of his wand is not Severus Snape but Mallfoy. Harry through luck or skill, had disarmed Mallfoy in a skirmish while trying to escape from captivity by the Death Eaters. Thus unknowingly to Harry or anyone else, the elder wand is now faithful to him.

We find this amazing as Voldemort tries to kill Harry on several different occasions with the wand but does not affect him because he is now the owner. A great twist, one that I did not see coming, until it was revealed. Using a double dose of wands Harry defeats he who must not be named.

My most favorite part of the book was when Mrs. Weasley takes up her wand and duels Bellatrix. Here I am cheering as she woops her butt. In every book, we see magic being performed by Mrs. Weasley but I do not ever recall her using a wand. If she did use one it was not very much. So I really cheered when she finally showed what she had. Something that you do not want to mess with.

The following is from wikipedia

"The Elder Wand, known throughout history as the Deathstick and the Wand of Destiny, is an extremely powerful wand made of elder wood with a core of Thestral tail hair. It is supposedly the most powerful wand in existence, and when used by its true master, he or she cannot be defeated in a duel; though according to Dumbledore, this is false, for he had beaten the Elder Wand in his epic battle with the legendary dark wizard, Grindelwald. It also appears, as the wand is somewhat sentient (as are all wands), that it will not allow itself to cause real harm to its true master. As stated by Mr. Ollivander the wandmaker, the wand will never fully work for the new user unless he or she directly disarms, stuns or kills (even in Muggle fashion) the previous master."

"The power of the Elder Wand was first shown in the story, as Antioch, the first and oldest brother, had a duel with an enemy he had long wanted to defeat. He won, and left his enemy dead on the floor."
