A Porkpie Hat is a type of hat made of felt or, less commonly, straw. It is somewhat similar to a trilby or a fedora, but it has a flat top. Fans of porkpie hats in popular culture include Dean Martin, Buster Keaton (who handmade his own), the character Walter White from the AMC television series Breaking Bad, and Johnny Depp in the film Benny and Joon.

Trucker Hats

Also known as: Mesh hat, gimme cap, and a feed cap

Truckers hats gained a lot of fame in the early 2000's when stars such as Ashton Kutcher, Pharrell Williams, and Justin Timberlake began wearing them as a kind of ironic homage to the rural, southern, blue collar, grungy truck driver types of America. They typically have a front side where you can sport your favorite band, a funny saying, or numerous other symbols, words, and phrases. They're great for casual wear and with the plastic mesh adding breathability in the back they are cool to wear in warm weather.

Fedora Hats

A fedora is a men's felt hat that is creased lengthwise down the crown and pinched in the front on both sides. The creasing does not define the hat, however. Fedoras can also be creased with teardrop crowns, diamond crowns, center dents, and others, and the positioning of pinches can vary if they are found at all.

Fedora's have been used much in popular culture, including the ones worn by Indiana Jones, the Blues Brothers, Freddy Kruger, and is used much in the Matt Damon film In the film The Adjustment Bureau.

Trilby Hats

A trilby hat is similar to a fedora, but typically has a narrower brim, and the back of the brim is distinctively more sharply upturned as a result. It has a short crown, which is pinched in the front and indented into a teardrop shape in the center. The hat's name derives from the stage adaptation of George du Maurier's 1894 novel Trilby; a hat of this style was worn in the first London production of the play, and promptly came to be called "a Trilby hat".

While the hat was most popular in the 1960's, it resurged in popularity in the early 2000s, when it was marketed to both men and women in an attempt to capitalize on a retro fashion trend. The hat has remained popular with both sexes into the 2010s. A notable wearer of the trilby is Frank Sinatra.

A chullo is a winter hat with ear-flap's that can be tied under the chin, to further warm the wearer's head. In the late 2000s, the chullo became an extremely popular winter hat; it was seen often in popular culture of the time, arguably made most famous by the popularity of Snowboarding.
