Franklin Castle Cleveland Ohio

"For years, the gothic mansion known as "Franklin Castle" has been called the most haunted house in Ohio. During its long and strange history, the ghost stories have become an integral part of the lore. For years, tales have been told of doors that explode off their hinges, lights that spin on their own, electric circuits that behave erratically, the inexplicable sounds of a baby crying and even a woman in black who has been seen staring forlornly from a tiny window in the front tower room.

There are many ghosts here, the legends say. But what dark deeds caused this house to become so haunted? Are the stories of the murders committed here actually true, or the stuff of legend?"

Hemphill Road Roundhead Ohio

This property was owned by Robert Hemp and it is said that he is buried beneath the front porch. Every person that has lived in the house has reported many strange noises and figures of a man in a top hat. One family said that while they always kept the heater on eighty, one room in the basement would be freezing cold. Another family kept a Bible open in the living room to a certain verse. Allegedly, each time they left home and returned, they would find the Bible on another verse-the verse which was read at Hemp's funeral.

The Glowing Horseshoe Perry County Ohio

In the mid 1800s a young hunk named James Henry lived in the area. In love with two different women, the man could not decide which one he wanted to marry. When he fell asleep one night, instead of pulling the man and the buggy home, the horse took him to the house of one of the young ladies. James then decided to marry her. The two were happy for a long time until the woman became ill and died. James visited Otterbein Cemetery everyday to put flowers on his wife's grave. One day at the cemetery, he saw the other young woman he had been courting before marrying his first wife. The two quickly became romantically involved and soon married. He stopped going to the grave of his first wife and soon all the flowers died. One day, a passerby saw a bloody horseshoe on the woman's tombstone. He told James that it was an ill omen, but James did not listen. The next day, James's new wife found him dead in the horse stables-there was an imprint of a horseshoe in his forehead. Now when its foggy, it is said that one may hear horse's hoofs going up and down Otterbein Road.

Buxton Inn Granville Ohio

One of the first ghosts to be seen was back in the 1920's and was the ghost of Orrin Granger, the man that built the inn back in 1812.

In the 70's the workers renovating the old inn thought they saw a ghost dressed in blue. They refused to enter the inn after dark.

Another ghost said to haunt the inn is that of Major Horton Buxton, the man that the inn was named after. He operated the inn back in the late 1800's. His ghost has been spotted in different places throughout the inn.

Another tale of ghosts is that of Bonnie Bounell, also a former innkeeper. Bonnie died in room number nine. Overnight guests staying in room nine have report seeing a lady dressed in blue, Bonnie's favorite color.
