Haunting Hot Spots
Ghosts
Afterlife
Personally, I love - and truly believe in - an 'afterlife'. Although ghosts, or spirits, are rumored to appear anywhere at any time, stories of ghostly encounters are much more popular during the Halloween season. Are you ready to visit some haunted locations? Then, there's no time to waste! In the infamous words of Heather O'Rourke on "Poltergeist"....They're HEEEEEERE!
West Coast Ghosts & Where To Find Them
Here are some of our favorite 'hot spots'!
San Francisco Bay, CA - Alcatraz: A former maximum security prison. It is no longer being used as a prison, though. Visitors and tour guides have made claims of hearing screams, slamming cell doors, banjo music, and footsteps. Maybe one of the former inmates just never got released?Tombstone, AZ - Bird Cage Theatre: Reports of ghostly laughter, yelling, and strange music. These reports date back to the 1880s. It was investigated on the TV series "Ghost Adventures". It was also investigated by TAPS on the popular ghost-hunting series, "Ghost Hunters".
Kalama, WA - Montgomery House Bed and Breakfast: Once a hospital, bordello, and medical clinic, built on land formerly occupied by the Cowlitz Indian Nation. The land was site to tens of thousands of Native American deaths, and full-body spectres are reported both in the establishment's back yard and within the home.
Estes Park, CO - Stanley Hotel: Reported as having a lot of ghostly activity, primarily in the ballroom. Also, seeing people in hallways then hiding and children are heard running and playing on the floor above them

East Coast Ghosts & Where To Find Them
Here are some of our favorite 'hot spots'!
Fall River, MA - The Lizzie Borden House: Now a bed and breakfast, it's claimed to be the most haunted house in the USA, with ghost sightings and unexplained noises. It is the site of a double murder, one of the most famous in US history.St. Francisville, LA - The Myrtles Plantation: reportedly haunted by a slave known as Chloe. It has been called by some, one of the most haunted homes in America.
Cincinnati, OH - Cincinnati Music Hall: A Theater that was built over a potter's field. Reports of spirits on the property date back to 1876 and continue through modern times. In 1988, during the installation of an elevator shaft, bones of adults and children were exhumed from under the hall.
Leesburg, VA - Ball's Bluff: The site of a Civil War battle in October 1861 and is said to be haunted by those who died during the fighting here.

- I absolutely do not believe in ghosts but I do love reading about them! Is that strange? :) In fact, my 7 year old is going through a HUGE ghost phase. He purchased several kids books about ghosts at his school's latest book fair and we've been reading about some of the haunted locations in New Orleans this week. I'm walking a very fine line between fulfilling his thirst for knowledge and freaking him out too badly to go to sleep without a night light but so far I've managed pretty well. Didn't work at all to tell him they just don't exist when they show up in his favorite TV shows, books, and in stories from friends. He'll love the stuff listed on your lens!
