Hauntings in San Antonio, TX

This is a legend of a school bus full of kids that was struck by a train on a railroad crossing. Legend has it that if you stop your car in the middle of the tracks that the ghostly hands of the little children push you off the track to keep you from being struck by a train also. Some people have put baby powder on the bumpers of their cars and swear that the hand prints of the little children can be seen in the powder. The streets around the area have children's names. Of course, there are other versions of this legend.

If you ever get to San Antonio, maybe you could join the others that go there to see and feel everything for yourself.

There are quite a few ghost sitings in this lovely high-class hotel. I will just be mentioning a few of them.

The first that people like to talk about is a ghost of Theodore Roosevelt. Roosevelt used to love to stay at the Menger Hotel. It is said that his ghost will ring a buzzer in the lobby (which has been disconnected for years) long and hard like he used to.

On the third floor, an elderly gentleman is seen to be walking down the hall and then mysteriously disappear. The area that he disappears into is where the door to the King Suite used to be. This ghosts is thought to be Captain Richard King who was there quite a bit during his life and his funeral was held in the parlor upon his death.

On the fourth floor, you can find the ghost of Sallie White. She was very diligent about her job as a maid. After her husband killed her, she continued to haunt the floors of the hotel making sure the guests were comfortable. She can sometimes be seen carrying towels to a room which never get delivered or with a feather duster or broom. She is described by people that see her as a woman with a long skirt and a bandana around her forehead. This used to be the uniform of that era for the maids.

You could see an apparition of a man in a buckskin jacket and gray pants sitting on your bed having a heated conversation with someone you cannot see. He says "Are you gonna stay or are you gonna go?" three times and then disappears. That would be something to tell your grandchildren about.

We are not done yet. I have one last one for you. Imagine a woman sitting in a chair knitting and when you go to ask her if she is ok, getting yelled "NO!" at and then the woman disappears. That would be a real shocker. Apparently this has happened to people who work there and are trying to make the customers comfortable.

There are supposed to be many more tales of ghosts in this hotel. They say to just ask Ernesto Malacara, the Menger's Director of Public Relations. He can tell you about the 32 or more ghosts in the Menger Hotel.

Yes, with it's bloody past, the Alamo has it's share of ghosts also. Again, I will be telling you about a few of them.

The very first ghost story took place right after the last battle when Mexico took it over. The General ordered that the place be dismantled. It was said that ghostly hands came out of the walls and that a loud voice told them that they were not to tear down the walls of the mission or face death. It was thought that they had seen the ghosts of the builders of the Alamo.

They say that many people have seen a man in a dark cape that looks real until someone talks to him and he just disappears. An apparition of a young cowboy dressed in Western Attire has been seen. There have been many sitings in the Alamo area. These are thought to be all the casualties from the bloody history of the Alamo.

If you come by San Antonio, by all means stop by and check out the Alamo in the evening.

Ok, I did not cover all of the hauntings. There are quite a few left. You have the donkey lady bridge, Black Swan Inn, Midget Mansion, Terrell Hills Ghosts, Chupacabra, and a potential of many more ghosts and hauntings. I have read all of these and they are interesting. You might try Googling each one of these if you are interested.

Are they real or are they fake? It is hard to tell but many of these have been going on for a long time.

This tour sounds really cool. No, I am not associated with them in any way but thought some of you might be interested in this tour.

You will stay 2 nights in the Menger Hotel mentioned above. You will have a ghost hunt at the Alamo as well as the Menger Hotel. They have added a tour of the Black Swan Inn at nighttime. This sounds like a very well planned out tour for those of you who like to go ghost hunting.
